This terrace features a wet-laid flagstone terrace with natural stone sitting walls capped with flagstone. The pergola is equipped with a ceiling fan to help keep the terrace cool on hot summer days. Another pergola leads guests from the driveway.

This small property is less than a 1/4 acre but the patio and gardens create a private haven for entertaining and relaxing. Sitting walls all around the patio provide year round seating. A white Crapemyrtle provides privacy on the patio and late summer flowers when most other shrubs are done blooming.

Our clients wanted to turn their townhouse backyard into a large patio with gardens all around so they didn't have to cut grass! In addition, we used a few trees to create some much needed privacy from the parking lot and second story windows.

It's a steep slope from the driveway to the backyard. Keeping in tune with the surrounding properties, the clients wanted to create a naturalistic staircase to access the backyard. Using small garden steppers, we created a staircase in the slope with gardens on either side. An arbor at the driveway marks the entrance of the staircase. As you wind your way down the slope there are flowering shrubs and perennials blooming throughout spring and summer. At the bottom, you arrive at a small paver patio off the basement sliding doors. Another path meets up with the steps for the second story deck.

This large formal terrace showcases three different seating areas and an in ground spa. The primary area off the sliding doors has a large open space with a table for family meals. There is also a smaller table where 3 or 4 people can comfortably sit and share conversation. The focal point of the entire terrace is an outdoor living room area equipped with comfortable furniture, a large fireplace, sitting walls and pergola to create a ceiling to the room. Each area is distinct and provides the clients with options for different kinds of entertaining.

This project features two pergolas and one arbor. The arbor at the entrance of the driveway to welcome guests into the backyard; a large pergola over the terrace to provide semi-shade while entertaining family and friends; and a second pergola by the pond as a meditative retreat to enjoy the gardens and pond.

A mix of artistic and unique items highlight this one of a kind garden. Our customer had many pieces of artwork she wanted incorporated into her garden. We used her artwork and existing plants in a redesign of the backyard. We created pathways and sitting areas for friends to gather and watch a life size game of chess.

On this project, we utilized the slope to create a three tier pond. This water feature can be observed and enjoyed from the large paver pato we designed, the existing deck (upper level) and from inside the home office. A staircase with low risers takes visitors from the driveway down to the patio while enjoying the gardens and pond.
