  | Kitchen Remodel | Mar 2013 | We redesigned the kitchen to work more efficiently within its size constraints, since the client didn't want to do an addition or move the walls to the other rooms in her house. She had custom built the house many years earlier, and it was now time to update the kitchen to satisfy her love of cooking and entertaining. By removing the peninsula, the island in the new floor plan opened up the space and offered multiple functionalities. We were able to add considerable workspace, storage space and dining space, as well as house a drawer microwave all in the new island. By integrating the microwave into the island, we made it easily accessible from the work triangle while freeing up space for the custom hood over the cook top. Having the seating at the new island allowed us to put three large built-in pantries where the original wall-mounted dining counter was.
