Always On Time and Affordable Plumbing, Inc.

I was at my parents’ house to fix a tub issue. The overflow plate was broken off and water had gotten between the bathroom and kitchen walls. I took out the kitchen cabinet and cut a 2ft x2ft square in the drywall, so there was complete access to the tub pipes. I also cut out the old overflow and drain pipes to replace them with new ones, and cleaned the area where the new parts would go. The new one I got from HD wouldn’t fit because the pipe going into the ground was too high. I decided to check out the cost of a plumber. I called one plumber and they were too busy. I called another and got an estimate of $175 - $275 after I texted pictures and told them what I had already done, but they couldn’t get there for a few days. I thought I would make one more call. I saw that someone in their neighborhood had used Always on Time and AFFORDABLE Plumbing. (Don’t let their name fool you.) I talked with Jahn. I didn’t tell him that it needed to be done right away, but that I wanted to be there. I make weekly visits and the job could have waited because my parents do have another bathroom. I talked with him again after I texted him pics and he made some comment about it being a “bad job”. Not sure if he meant what I had already done or what. Perhaps he was setting up the sticker shock he would deliver me the next day. He arrived the next morning with his assistant. They were there less than an hour. I understand that I was paying him for what he knew, not the amount of time they were there, but I …… was……floored at the price. He charged me $325 for a job that was already 1/2 done. I asked him about it and he said that is what they charge to do that type of job and that he had to buy the kit. The kit would have cost me $32 and I know that contractors get at least a 10% discount. There are several other water problems in my parents’ house. They have leaky faucets and a water heater that needs replacing but there is no way in he11 I would use this company again.
