Provato Construction

It has taken me some time to write this review, partially as I was so infuriated with Jerry Scamuffa and Provato Construction that I needed time to get past my anger. I hired Jerry as there GC for the renovation of a building I purchased in Ardmore approximately 2 years ago. Jerry and his team were initially attentive to the project and Jerry provided good oversight. However, as time went on I noticed a sharp decline in time spent at the site and lack of oversight by Jerry. This continued and although there were some delays that were beyond his control, the lack of effort and oversight resulted in significant delays. I had to continually call to ask why he or his team were not on sight and almost invariably received excuse after excuse. Payments for all jobs on the site were made by me up front for the most part or 50% up front and the remainder immediately after completion. Finally, Jerry and his team just did not show up and I discussed with Jerry the need to get this finished and that the time delays were highly costly to me. He agree that he could not finish the job and said he completely understood that I would have to hire another contractor to finish the job. The worst of this experience is that much of the work done on one section of the building was sloppy, not according to architectural plans and had to be completely revised costing me thousands of dollars and time. Even Jerry admitted that it was his fault and a result of lack of his oversight. Other financial issues arose as well, with Jerry owing me a substantial amount of money at the end. Further, a large sum of money I paid to him upfront for materials was never paid to the vendor by Jerry. I found this out when the vendor contacted me to let me know they did not receive payment. This has created a very difficult position for me as the debt (nor any part of it) still has not been repaid. This money Jerry owes me has never been repaid since he left the job at the end of 2017. I strongly DO NOT recommend Jerry Scamuffa or Provato Construction (name of company may have changed by now). I will post an update should this matter be resolved in the near future.
