You are guaranteed to waste time AND money at Davenport Customs. Davenport Customs is a pathetic excuse for a "business". My wife and I wasted 11 months of our lives and over $4000 at this custom shop, with nothing positive to show for it. During this 11-month period: plenty of constant back-and-forth, useless trips occurred just to TRY to correct the incompetent job that was initially performed (a job that was supposed to have been completed with just 2 weeks of labor). In the end, the job was still never corrected due to incompetence and lack of knowledge. I am now at a different Customs shop and in the process of redoing all of the low-quality work that was performed by Davenport (redoing it properly this time, with proper professionals). If you are looking for quality custom work, I urge you to look into the nationally famous "Dreamworks Motorsports" (in Roxboro NC). Dreamworks Motorsports offers much more custom services than Davenport, and will deliver the work at a MUCH higher quality level. Do not be intimidated by all of the celebrities that are serviced by Dreamworks; you will receive the proper treatment and attention regardless of who you are. Dreamworks also offers very competitive and reasonable pricing. The owner of Davenport Customs, Jimmie Davenport, is a lying, deceitful snake that is extremely incompetent in his field. In comparison to his peers, he is extremely misinformed and lacks the proper knowledge to do his job. We asked for top-of-the-line audio products and were told that we'd be given top-of-the line products (within the Brand/Company we chose). We later found out that the products we were given were not top-of-the-line and were very inferior and subpar to the top products. Jimmie does not give the customer what the customer wants; he gives the customer what he wants to give or what he thinks he should give - and is willing to falsely advertise what he is giving. Jimmie will profile you and your car, and try desperately to count your coins and watch your pockets; his profiling is often immensely inaccurate and will deeply and negatively impact the services he offers. In addition to giving us inferior audio products, Jimmie was not even able to install the inferior products properly. He installed our power reference amp in a way that partially blocked the vents of the amp. Because of this incompetent install, the amp was not receiving the proper thermal regulation. As soon as the summertime hit, we started encountering overheating issues with the amp. The amp would go into thermal protection mode and cause the system to clip. Jimmie personally spent 6 months trying to determine the cause of the issue and was extremely unsuccessful and incompetent in his attempts. After many useless trial-and-error trips and wasted purchases on unnecessary equipment - we realized that he was not competent enough to determine the cause and/or solution to the issue. He was incorrectly convinced that the amp was going into protection mode for power reasons, even though he previously told us that we should have more than enough power for the system he installed. I'm not even sure if he was even aware that the amp could go into protection mode for thermal reasons - as he never once looked into or mentioned the temperature of the amp. After spending just 1 day at Dreamworks (charged just 1 hour of labor), Dreamworks was able to scientifically determine and confirm the cause of the issue as well as propose the proper solution. The proposed solution worked. Enough said. Do not waste your time and money at Davenport Customs, if you want quality work performed on your car.
