Our experience with Craft Buildworks & Luke Holcomb have been beyond awful. I would not recommend him, or this company, for any job. We hired Luke to finish out our walk-in attic space in September 2018 through porch.com after interviewing a number of contractors. Luke's price was competitive and he stated that he had near immediate availability to start the project at that time. He stated that the job could be completed within 21 days or so. Work began on October 6th and as of the day that we formally fired him on February 8th, the work had not been completed. Initially, his communication was better than anyone could expect. He used a website, Buildertrend, to set up a schedule & used a camera system so we could check in on the progress while we were at work. Not long after he started though, delay after delay started piling up. Despite the delay on their part, Luke would always expect the next draw from us on the right date. After failing the framing & insulation inspection two times (Luckily, we did require a permit & inspection be part of our contract), Luke's electrician failed inspection 3 straight times. He disappeared before completing the HVAC inspection and I still don’t know what kind of damage he did to my duct work & HVAC system. The main "delay" that Luke had was with the doors. He stated that they were on order from mid-October until the last correspondence we had with him in January. In reality, he did not do his due diligence during the estimate and did not account for the door cost. I'm assuming that he found a point to stop where he came out as far ahead as possible and then proceeded to stall & lie until we gave up. During our last communication on January 2nd, he stated that the doors were still not in and that he would try and touch base with the company that he had ordered them with and be back in touch with me the next date. We never heard a word. Craft Buildworks and Luke Holcomb collected $8550, 90% of the total contract amount, and “completed” roughly 75% of the job. We have since found that he has done this repeatedly to others under different company names. He just creates a new LLC, swindles some people, then starts another one. The fact that Porch.com lets him & his company remain on their website should let you know everything you need to know about Porch as a company.
