![]() ![]() | Residential Foundation Repair Design | Oct 2014 | CG Engineering is currently working on a repair solution for a homeowner whose foundation had been undermined by water. CG Engineering made a site visit to the property and provided a structural assessment and a verbal report of recommendations. We conducted a level survey to establish the extent of settlement. It was determined that a new shotcrete wall should be installed along the south and east portions of the undermined foundation, with six helical anchors to provide lateral support. Prior to installation of the wall, rigid insulation will be placed below the existing portions of the undermined basement slab. Several new piles will be required to support the roof and deck. A new glu-lam roof beam will be designed to support the new roof column locations. We will work with a geotechnical engineer to devise a method of using sono tube concrete columns bearing on compacted fill soils to support the changes and save on construction costs and time. CG will also assist in permitting the project. | Leavenworth, WA
![]() ![]() | Pine Ridge Development | Aug 2014 | CG Engineering is providing structural engineering for multiple homes in the Pine Ridge Development located in Issaquah, WA. Individual homes are wood-framed three-story structures of approx. 4,000 square feet, including garages. We are working closely with the architect to coordinate framing schemes, size and location of structural members and details with exposed structure that effect the appearance of the homes. | Issaquah, WA
![]() ![]() | Banovich Art Studio | Jan 2012 | CG Engineering provided the structural engineering for this 3,800 square foot, two-story art studio with a loft. The lower level was designed as a two car garage with a workshop. The main level the art studio, and the upper loft area is a private office. Because the client is an artist, the aesthetic appearance was a high priority, both inside and out. The basement is constructed of reinforced concrete with masonry veneer. Most of the upper structure is constructed of wood framing, much of which is exposed. We worked with the project architect and owner to achieve the aesthetic appearance that was desired. Steel framing was used for the cantilevered deck and the front facing window wall, in order to provide adequate strength and stiffness for the structure. Well-coordinated drawings and frequent communication during the design phase made this project a success. | Seattle, WA
![]() ![]() | Residential Stream Restoration | Jan 2010 | CG Engineering provided civil engineering services for a residential stream restoration. To satisfy the requirements of the City and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, CG Engineering worked with a wetland ecologist to design a restored stream with fish passage capabilities. Log drops were installed to decrease the velocity of the water. The area around the restored stream was constructed to match the conditions in the area prior to unpermitted culvert construction. We provided plans and details for erosion control, grading, drainage, and traffic control. Throughout construction, CG Engineering worked closely with the contractor to ensure that the new stream would meet the requirements of the jurisdictions involved. | Shoreline, WA
![]() ![]() | Residential Slope Stabilization | Jan 2009 | This project involved repairing a rockery wall situated very close to the beach of Port Ludlow Bay. The 13 foot rockery was supporting an existing residence and was in danger of failing. Several design options were reviewed to determine the most cost effective solution that would have the least impact on the environment. The final design option involved buttressing the rockery. CG Engineering coordinated with the Department of Ecology and Jefferson County. We provided coordination for an archeological study and also prepared the JARPA, SEPA, and SWPPP submittals. Approval for this project also had to be obtained from the Jefferson County Hearing Examiner. Inspections were conducted during the project to verify construction. | Port Ludlow, WA
![]() ![]() | Residential Foundation Repair Design | Jan 2004 | This residence was constructed upon an uncontrolled filled area that settled differentially up to 2 3/4 in some places. CG Engineering provided the engineering design to re-level the existing two story structure from the foundation with the use of 2 diameter pin piles driven through the fill material and into competent bearing soils. An innovative bracket and hydraulic jacks placed was used at the bottom of the foundation to re level the structure to within 1/8 of an inch. | Edmonds, WA
