The original 12-week $60k project turned into a 6-month disaster and left me with somewhere over $50k of damages (overpayment, cost of tile, cost of demolition & cost of redoing things right). It started rather well but when came time to finishing work (tile, paint, trim) they sent unskilled workers to do the job and that turned into hell. Now I'm left with an unfinished project and need to demolish all the finish work, including showers and tiled floor and hire real professionals. Not only they don't take responsibility for their mistakes but on top of that they asked me for money to fix them and pay for the $9k worth of tile that was wasted by their unskilled workers. Among other issues: - Floor was not leveled before tile was installed - Tile is not bounded properly (hollow tiles) - Tile was cut around door frames and gap was filled with mortar - Broken and damaged tile was installed - Tiles were cut too short leaving a visible gap after baseboard is installed - None of the surfaces have the proper pattern. Counting is hard! - The worker didn't use spacers or levelers to install the tiles causing a lot of lippage and completely random grout lines - Showers have a lot of water traps - They spray painted but didn't back roll, leaving traces all over the walls - None of the paint lines are cut properly - Texture was done by 2 different people on different dates leaving a clear line between the 2 texturing techniques. - They used unlicensed workers to do plumbing and electrical Bottom line is companies like Cohen & Cohen construction are the reason construction businesses have a bad reputation.
