Extremely thorough during all phases which included several site visits to evaluate/inspect, measure, and discuss options. Van Ness was the only company that conducted complete Load Capacity calculations and provided us with all of the calculations (by room) and conclusions. They replaced our complete central air and heat system with the latest state of the art American Standard Platinum communicating systems. During every phase of the project, Michael Van Ness consistently kept me informed of status. I could go on and on. However, I will finish this evaluation the way it was began. When I finally decided to put central air/heat into my 72 hear old home, I had four different HVAC contractors come and give me evaluations/estimates (all recommended in some way by friends/other household service providers). Michael was prompt and took more time than the other contractors in evaluating the energy efficiency needs of my home, where to locate the vents, how many vents in each room for greatest efficiency (including back closed-in porch), size of vents and configuration of the ducting in the attic. Because I was doing the job in 2010 when the Tax Credit for energy efficient additions to homes was available, Michael researched several different brands of HVAC units to find the best unit for my home and the one that would meet all the necessary criteria for the Energy Tax Credit. He did not try to push me toward any one brand, but rather tried to match my specific needs with what was available. His quote was very reasonable and although it was not the cheapest, it was well within the range of the other bidders, while giving me a more efficient unit. He was also considered to be “top notch” by the electrical contractor that I was already using. Once I decided to use Van Ness Heating & Air, I continued to be impressed with the thoroughness and quality of the work that was done. Duct work in the attic was arranged to give maximum HVAC efficiency, while still configuring and securing the ducting to leave as much useable storage space as possible. On the day that the vents cuts were made in the ceiling, I was once again impressed with the care they took in creating as little mess as possible and then cleaning up the debris that was produced. Their work was done carefully but efficiently. I have been 100% pleased with both the unit we selected and the service that has been provided since the installation. Each seasonal service visit includes rechecking the efficiency of the air flow, as well as the condition and performance of both the inside and outside units, as well as the programmable thermostat.
