| Ranch remodel | Nov 2014 | This was a ranch house that passed down through family members. Initially, we were going to redo the siding, replace windows, replace all floors throughout house with hardwood, gut and remodel both bathrooms, and set new cabinets and island in kitchen. We started by opening up the floor space by knocking the walls out that enclosed the kitchen. Then we started working on a few drywall repairs. We ran into some trouble there. We found the drywall was actually rotting due to lack of air circulation in the attic. We fixed the ventilation issue, then tore most the drywall off the ceilings. The rest of the project went pretty well. We ran into a bit of an issue with our replacement windows. We are still working with the manufacturer to fix this problem, but homeowners are very happy and have referred us to several people since. | Galesburg, IL |
