The Basement Transformer

When the home owners needed more space in their home they knew that adding on or adding up would be very expensive. They called us and with our help they created a new 700 square foot Master Suite in the basement. We helped install an Egress window to meet safety codes and a new safe set of stairs to get up and down. We helped create a walk in closet bigger than some peoples bedrooms. and a full bath with a 5 foot shower.

This wonderful family purchased this home about 12 years ago and shortly after the purchase had a major flood and the basement needed to be cleaned out. So many years later they were ready to finish it again. So when we helped them we found that the water problem had to be solved first. Now they have a waterproofing system that is warranted for the life of the home and transferable as many times as the house is sold. Now it is time to finish it. First what were the most important things, laundry area, bathroom and incorporate the antique ice box into the space. Added touch we through in was the reclaimed lumber from period barns to accent the space.

This is a basement that the homeowners wanted to update. They have lived here over 40 years and been very happy here. We removed all the old materials and replaced most of it with inorganic materials and made the space warmer with our insulated wall panel system. we updated all the lighting to LED and installed our ThermalDry flooring tiles to prevent mold and mildew. To protect the whole home we installed our SaniDry Sedona basement miracle machine. It is remotely installed under the stairs and ducted to the finished space. This unit works for the whole house, not just the basement.

When it was time, it was time. This family needs more space. Where do we go, lets go to the basement. What do we want? bathroom, bedroom, workout section, and space for the really big TV. First lets make it dry and usable. Then lets get it done.

This call started because of a foundation crack leaking. After discussing with the homeowners we also found they were concerned about a mold like substance growing around a leak in the basement door. We were then contracted to remove all the organic materials we could and replace them with a warranted non organic product. We removed all the materials into a dumpster then the work began. Insulate the existing framed walls with a waterproof non organic closed cell spray foam that also is a vapor barrier to prevent moisture drive from outside. Installed our EverLast wall panels with the 50 year warranty. then came the new ceiling made out of mineral wool extremely fire retardant and 30 year warranty form mold and sagging. Came the non organic floor system that looks like parquet wood. To finish it off we had the basement miracle machine the SaniDry XP it dehumidifies and cleans the air better than almost anything else you can put in a house.
