A1 Roofing Siding and Chimney Repair

Please don’t fall victim to Christopher M Maddix (Chris) He is no handyman. My husband found him on what he thought was a handyman site. We were looking for someone to add new siding to our home. Maddix gave a quote of $10,500. And if he found any damage, it would be higher. Unfortunately, we had not checked the history of this individual and his businesses before this. If you check, he has gone under other business names. The first week the weather was hot and humid. We agreed to short days for that first week of work. However, this practice continued into the second week. Chris Maddix had excuses for not showing up on days. When they did show up, Chris and his partner would leave after a few hours and leave a mess each time. Two weeks had passed, and the new siding was only half up and looked like a kindergartner had done it. The work was not quality work. Every day that he was at our house, Chirs claimed that there was damage and that he had to fix it. I asked him if that meant it would cost us more. He said, “Yes.” Although he only showed us some areas, it was not much of anything. Chris did not show us if he had fixed any of it. Reading reviews after we hired Maddix, we figured these so-called damages would cost us at least $2,000 more over the quoted price. He has made a habit of saying that there are damages that will cost extra to others who have hired him. We gave Chris, money for the siding and materials. He only bought enough for the small areas he worked on then. We had to buy more siding and materials after we terminated Maddix halfway through. A family member who knew what he was doing and my husband, had to redo a lot of the work that A-1 Remodeling did. Don’t be a victim, as we had. This pos is the worst contractor for anything. Run his various buisness names in BBB. (Up top roofing) among many others. He owes so many people money. Run his name in Wisconsin circuit court. Such a useless being. Sued many times. Really is the bottom of the barrel if you are that desperate.

Chris was very fast and responsive to our inquiry and was at our house for a quote within a few days. But then everything went down hill from there. I asked for a quote for a skylight repair. He got there, got on the roof and said, all he had to do was reseal around the window and in a couple of different places and then he'd be done. He was there for about a half hour and said that that should take care of everything and that the skylight would not leak any longer. He came off the roof and I asked him what I owed him and he said $300 and asked what I thought. I responded with, that sounds like way too much for a half hour of work. To that he responded with, "But now my name is on this project and if it doesn't work I will be back to fix it." I was still unhappy with the cost but, I just wanted my skylight not to leak any more. About a week later we had a heavy rain and the skylight began to leak more than it did before the repair. I texted him right away and he said that he would be able to come out and look at it in a couple of days (saturday). Saturday came and went and I didn't hear from him. So I texted him on Sunday and he said that, he thinks it's shot and that we'll have to replace the whole window. He gave me a ballpark number of what it would be to replace it. I told him that I was not going to replace it and that I would like to be refunded the $300 for the failed repair. Then he said that he'd come out and try to fix it again free of charge. But never responded to my texts about coming out. He went dark and won't respond to my texts. I am out $300 and my window leak is worse than when he first showed up.
