We hired FFB to do a custom, hand-built, walnut top table. The table is stunning, although it was delivered incomplete (it's missing some dowels where the legs attach to the body). We were so happy with the table so we hired FFB to do another job for us and make a custom bar cabinet and install some floating shelves. The short version of the story goes like this: final invoice cost for the cabinet and shelves ballooned to over $4,400 from an original estimate of $1,570. Even accounting for the extra cost of modifications agreed to along the way the final invoice submitted was for over double the initial estimate. Additionally, the cabinet was delivered more than two months late (after so many excuses) and with so many significant problems and issues (detailed below) that it came no where close to the quality we were being asked to pay for it. In fact it's costing us over $3k to get the issues fixed by someone who knows what they are doing. If you charge over $4k for a simple cabinet it needs to be perfect. In short - this builder should stick to tables only. Anything with hinges, cabinets, shelves, brackets, hardware of any kind should be avoided. Issues with the cabinet were as follows: the walnut top was not sanded properly and not finished properly the door is not level the door color is not what we asked for and the paint job is uneven the door hinge screws are not flush with the door and are not set properly. One is missing. the pull-out drawers do not function smoothly and ball bearings are falling out of the tracks the pull-out drawers are not finished, they are raw wood that is rough. the pull-out drawers are not waxed inset, cabinet grade drawers with walnut faces as described in the original invoice with no explanation as to why this was changed by the builder the door to the cabinet does not open far enough for the drawers to avoid hitting it the inside of the cabinet door is not finished and has missing wood and nicks on it the drawer "catch" mechanism with the inside of the door is not functional and needs to be changed. the interior of the fridge space is not finished the right exterior of the cabinet is not level with the room facing exterior so the cabinet is imbalanced. In other words the cabinet door is not flush with the exterior of the cabinet facing the wall. Save yourself the trouble and don't hire this builder.
