A&A signed-up to a major remodeling of our house. Where to start, he said he had experience dealing with the County, he did not. Getting permits, SDP plan approval was a nightmare. He started doing demo'ing and land changes not having a SDP in place. County didn't like that. He made decisions regarding the design that had major impacts. He never consulted with us (house width was made 2' shorter then blue-print). A number of his crew would later tell me of things. Budget - lets not so there. Way over budget. A&A would come in with surprises. I used a detail spreadsheet and finally said, if it's not in the spreadsheet I don't pay. Beware of mark-up. Payment, I always paid his invoices with the stated terms. However, found A&A wouldn't pay it's sub-contractors (had a lien put against my property). Pay the sub-contractors direct is the lesson learned. I had to get invoiced with two who would not complete work because A&A was not paying them. Timeline, supposed to be a 9 to 10 month project, we are almost at 20 months. Like the other reviewer, trusting A&A is a problem. Overall - do NOT recommend.

We built a new home this last year. When it came time to install interior finish trim and shelving we hired A&A Construction. I went over all of the details with Briggs. He left me feeling confident that they would do a great job. They started out good doing base and case mouldings. We have two rooms with crown moulding, this was done poorly (gaps at the joints, miss matched ends) this was all paint grade trim. Then we got to the shelving in the closets, this was all to be stain grade/clear coat. We purchased cabinet grade pine plywood and pine boards for this. The craftsman ship on this was terrible, 1/4"+ gaps, splintered ends and edges. Places that should have had pine trim, they used some of the baseboard trim which is poplar (it has a greenish color to it), not even close to matching the pine. I called Briggs (the owner of A&A) to come look at what was being done. I told him there is no way we can clear coat that kind of work. He offered to change a couple pieces of trim out but that was it. So needless to say I finished the shelving. Once we were ready to finish paint the interior trim, I was having a hard time finding a finish painter that could get started right away. Briggs tells me he has this awesome finish painter, (make it look like glass he says) so we agreed on a price and time frame to do the work. (two weeks) His guy had one excuse after another for not making it to work, jump ahead to week five of a two week project and the guy doesn't even have the caulking finished which was supposed to be done on week one and just making a mess. I contacted Briggs and told him we wanted him out. That has been three months ago. We paid Briggs $3700.00 up front ( 1/2 down). Briggs and I agreed that even though his guy did a poor job, he did do some work so we agreed that I would be refunded $3,000.00. Zero of which I have received yet. Briggs no longer takes my phone calls or answers my text messages. (I guess it's time for legal action). We did find an outstanding contractor to come fix/finish the mess. Honey Do Painting did an outstanding job of cleaning up the caulking mess and paint. Thanks to Joe and his crew who showed up every day and worked at least 8-10 hours every day to get us back on track. True professionals that take care and pride in everything they do! Do yourself a favor and call Joe at Honey Do Painting (208) 699-1790 and tell him Ron McMillan sent you.
