Architect and General Contractor, for over 27 years in the bay area. I, Patrick Burger, am the licensed principal for both companies. My Design/Build experience includes projects ranging from residential, multi-unit residential, and Estate Homes to Supermarkets, Restaurants and Department Stores. In 2008 and 2009, I was selected from an international pool of candidates, and provided Architectural and Construction Management services, for two major projects in Ulanbator, the capital city of Mongolia.....a new, 240 unit, 10 story building, and....the total remodel and modernization of the historic State Department Store....which included a new, 6 story Atrium with escalators. After years of exclusively designing and building homes, I got into inspecting multi-family homes - from 55 Units to 930 Units - in 1992, working as a Project Manager for one of the best bay area construction forensic firms. I saw the importance of having experts - from both the plaintiff and defense sides of a case - evaluate construction deficiencies, and assess the deficiencies extent, provide required repair specifications, establish a cost for those repairs. Consequential damages were assessed and costed as well. Over a two year period, I gradually realized that individual home owners didn't have, let's say.....'adequate representation'....when having a standard home inspection performed, whether for buyer or seller. I founded Architectural Inspection Services in 1994, to remedy the situation, and have provided professional inspections on well over a thousand homes. I'm the only SF Bay area home inspector that includes actual repair recommendations and estimated costs for the repairs...in all of my reports! I also provide forensic services to bay area attorneys, for construction defect cases - and have been qualified on dozens of legal cases - since 1997 - as an expert witness at trial - for both construction and architectural issues.
