J&M remodeling and repairs

Although he is kind, his business is managed poorly. He tried hard to get the job completed but was unsuccessful. Originally due to start the last week of June, he didn't end up starting until the 5th of July. We never heard from him the whole week he was supposed to be starting, so I posted again on Porch.com and we heard from him the next day. He came and got half his money, and "began" and I say that lightly because he showed up the next day with about $100 worth of materials and then didn't show up to complete the project for another few days. Our project was relatively simple. We needed a concrete pad poured and an extension to the roof. The part that was completed, the concrete pad, was done poorly and not up to our standards. Juan hired out that part to another man and was not here during the whole process. I had to go out and make sure the man was doing what I wanted to be done. It still wasn't done right even with me continually telling both men, Juan and the concrete guy, what we wanted. Juan never arrived on time or called when he was supposed to. He always had an excuse for why something didn't go right, i.e.. when the concrete guy didn't show up until past 5pm on the day he was due to start, "well, i can't really tell him when to show up bc I'm technically just borrowing him, he's not really working for me" or when we asked why the concrete was done so poorly, "well my brother in law had a family emergency in Mexico, so i had to find someone else and I've never used this guy so I didn't know." First off why would you hire someone whom you've never used? Second, instead of making excuses own up to the problems and make it right. We paid him $1500 to do the job to the standards at which we expected them to be done, it was not that way. We ended up firing him and hiring another man to finish the job. Upon firing him, it took him around 2 weeks to come haul off his wheel barrow and scraps of concrete, that we personally cleaned up. He then took it straight across the street and dumped in an illegal dumping zone. We made sure he knew that he needed to come back and clean it up or we would report him. He came back and picked it all up about an hour later. A job that should have taken a maximum of 4 days took Juan 3 weeks. We do not recommend hiring him.

Juan is amazing. He is very nice, got the job done efficiently and in a timely matter. Sheet rock is a messy repair and he did the fix with care and concern for cleanliness. I highly recommend j & m for remodeling and or repairs
