Art of the Yard

Many reviews are written right after a job is completed. You don't really know how good the work is until a year - or several - later. That's what this review highlights. I used Art of the Yard for our new home - landscape design, plant material, two large stone patios with stairs, crusher fine path, rock and edging . The design was okay - as good as the other bids - and plant material for the most part was appropriate for our needs. The new project manager did not know how to delegate, so it took a lot longer than planned. The main problem - then and now - is the two large stone patios. They started sinking more each summer and I asked Heath and Shane to look at them. They pulled up some of the pavers and said mice was the problem - they had seen this problem before. (Original cost was over $30,000.) I was surprised because there were no mice droppings, garbage or tufts of fur. A kind man from Orkin came out that same day and agreed with me. My husband and I decided to do the work ourselves, since we had our doubts about Heath and Shane at that point. When we pulled the capstone off (which they hadn't done) the problem was obvious - the area between the keystones had not been filled in AT ALL. That is a large opening for sand to sink into. I verified on a keystone installation website and several videos that we were correct. That meant we not only had to pull up all of the pavers that had sunk, but all of the capstone as well to add crushed rock. It was a huge job (and a big thank you to our great son-in-law). I don't think Heath and Shane were being dishonest - I think they don't know what they are doing. BEWARE! You do not want them to install a paver patio. I have the pictures to prove it.

John and Kenny couldn't be more polite, efficient or helpful. They did the job quickly and included a new service - polishing the rocks on our water feature. The water feature works beautifully and we are delighted with the service.

Art of the yard just completed a water feature for me. Mike and his crew did an amazing job. I am more than thrilled with the result. They listened to what I wanted and created a very natural water feature that that has the look and sound that I was hoping for. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a high end finished product. I have now also ordered a fire pit and outdoor kitchen. These guys are the best!

If you have any dreams of pond maintenance being performed by these people, forget it. I had them come by to take a look at my project, asked for an estimate, and waited for them to contact me for a date. I never heard from them, called them repeatedly and left messages, and still, no response. They either don't have the courage to inform a prospective client that their project is not in their purview, or are incapable of doing the work. No matter...for me these folks are a ZERO. I strongly urge anyone who's looking for a competent pond maintenance company to pass these people by.
