Daniel Moran Architect was formed in 1996 to specialize in custom residential projects. Working with great clients on unique sites on all the major Islands we have developed an approach to residential design that is well suited to these beautiful islands. A grouping of roof forms, either connected or freestanding, create an intimate village feel and reduce the apparent mass of the building. Large structural elements supporting these graceful, protecting roofs allow an open plan to develop. Floor to ceiling sliding doors disappearing into walls combined with sensitive detailing blurs the distinction between interior space and exterior space, allowing the landscaping, views, and pools to become part of the interior space... Simple, yet elegant detailing, "honed" finished natural stones, "matte" finished hardwoods, natural fabric wall coverings, and an earth toned palette all contribute to this vision of the contemporary Hawaiian home.
