We purchased a home in Galveston which was remodeled by Cruz Remodeling. It has been a nightmare since. Before closing, the AC stopped working and a light malfunctioned, needing to be fixed. That should have been a warning for what was to come. Within two weeks of closing, a water spot appeared on an interior wall. I called a plumber to check it out. The plumber alerted me that the AC system installed by Cruz Remodeling was not done correctly. The emergency condensation drain line and the overflow pan drain did not connect to anything and were draining inside interior walls. When I called Cruz, he said it wasn't his problem, the work was "green-tagged" by the city (clearly something was missed or I wouldn't have water in my walls?), and he wasn't going to come out or send anyone out unless I was willing to pay them for it. Clearly, something was wrong. We found the subcontractor, who confirmed the installer didn't do this correctly. After a fight, the subcontractor didn't want such poor workmanship under his name and came out to fix it. Though we did have to fix the water-stained dry wall. While the AC team was up in the attic, we found shingles not connected to the roof - which was pointed out in the inspection report but not fixed. Shingles not connected can be seriously damanged in a windstorm. Hello, Hurricanes! Then the lights started going out randomly. We called an electrician, who had to do a circuit diagnoses to confirm there was faulty wiring. The electrician had to de-energize wires and take out plugs so that our house wasn't a fire hazard. After our first guest stayed, we had to fix more plumbing issues, the toilets were wobbly, the kitchen sink leaked on to back patio, and the shower head had to be cleaned out to properly function. All in all, if you have a home remodeled by him - I'd get a deep inspection. If you are looking to hire, don't. This has been a massive nightmare. Having owned several houses including substantial work on each of the houses I've owned, this is by far the worst workmanship I've ever dealt with. Just don't. Find someone else.
