I built this custom wall unit for Ms. Holly in Farmingdale, Her old unit was made of MDF Oak, you know the look. She was very happy to have something built that would actually save space in her room and gain much more storage, The unit was built in clear pine with a semi gloss bright white finish, and she picked out the knobs. This unit took one week to fabricate in my wood shop and a day to install at her residence and another day to make any final touch ups.

I was in the process of changing siding in the back of this customers house to match the rest of the siding when I noticed the entire corner was rotted away, so I underwent some major surgery to that part of the house.

I was asked to change rotted wood around two windows, as I started I noticed more than wood rot around the windows, it had spread several feet around the windows and alot of the existing siding could not be saved.

I was hired to replace an existing fireplace mantle and surround, the customer asked if I could build what they saw in a magazine. Since I can build anything I said sure. With no plans, specifications or measurments, I took the picture, burned it in to memory and built this new fireplace surround, the funny part was trying to find a mantle which they were ready to purchase online, I said give me a couple of hours...I'll find one that will be perfect. so I went to 3 lumber yards and asked for the worst piece of wood in the lot, only one lumberyard had it, it was a solid piece of Fir 2" thick and looks like it had been there for 50 years, I took it back softened it up a little put on my finish and it looked perfect, the best $35.00 I spent.

When it comes to installing a door it may look easy from what you see on TV, but there is some work involved. Removing the casing is the first step, then cutting the door frame out is messy but goes pretty fast, then squaring up your door frame, this is very important. If your just replacing the door and its not a pre-hung there is much more work involved, the hing and lockset must line up perfectly and this requires more time. Then you may need to shave the door due to the existing opening, 95% of the time the house has settled and the door does not shut properly.

I was asked by an old friend to help him with a deck around his pool, I was asked to develop a really good framing system and install composite decking, he said he wanted to install the railing and skirt, I just built the deck part with a small set of stairs, however, I designed the deck to fit within his budget for materials, he went over a couple of hundred dollars, but said it was well worth it for the amount of space he gained.

Laminate floors are very popular these days, there is no rip out of the old floor and it usually takes only a day before it's complete and you can walk on it, however laminate flooring is not recommended for wet areas, but it's cheap, requires no maintenance and will make a room look great in a matter of hours.
