Okey and his crew (his family members) are good natured, friendly and well meaning people. I truly believe Okey cares about his business reputation and tries to please his customers. However, his poor business practices overshadow his work and his relationships with customers. We ask him to quote an entryway remodel and specifically told him, "who ever can get here first - wins the bid" He claimed he could send a few guys from his crew "today" if we had a contract and the material. We signed a contract and agreed - he would start in two weeks (time necessary to obtain materials). He urged us to pay by cash or check because a credit card would delay the start date (takes 10 days for him to recieve the funds) - so we did. From this point forward, it became an almost daily liturgy of lies and deception. Each day, my wife would text and ask "will you be here today" and each day she received another excuse for delay. We later found out, we was working multiple jobs at the same time. He would offer us excuses because another customer was more angry than us - at the moment. But, Okey and his crew tried very hard to conceal the fact they were working on other projects - when they were supposed to be completing our job. We finally questioned okey about this "secret shell game". At first he denied it - then he said " all contractors do it" "it's how you make the money". He told me: "if a contractor tells you their not busy - they're lying" (I thought back to where he told me "we could start today" to get our contract). He lied. We are not happy with his work at all. I Could have done a better job myself and saved thousands of dollars. We are very disappointed and angry. But we are also glad the daily text game is over. I'm just left to wonder - would Okey and his team have done a better job if they were not under pressure from several angry customers? Perhaps

I originally called to have carpet installed. When I called I was told that they would come out the next day to check out the work but after I told them I had someone coming out to look at my driveway to put in a new culvert they came out quick and in a hurry. I was pitched an idea to put in an overfill and the price came out to being 1k less than what the other contractor was offering so I figured it was a sure bet (especially since they were recommended by Menards) but I couldn’t have been more wrong. After they started the demolition on my driveway (which is the only way in and out of the house) I was told they misjudged the size of the culvert and that they were going to need to buy another 20’ pipe so they could cut it and bind it to get the pipe to 24’. I was told I would need to cover the cost of 1.4K in order to purchase the second culvert so they could finish. At this point with my driveway ripped up I was in too deep and had to continue regardless of how terribly everything had been handled. As far as the carpeting goes it was the same story. He came in, gave me the dimensions I would need to buy from the store but once I got the carpet he went on to tell me I would need to buy another 12x2 strip so the could seam the carpet. Though they were able to do it with what I purchased the seam is still completely visible after several weeks of vacuuming and foot traffic. Towards the end of the driveway project, Oakie asked me to give him the second installment of pay even though the project wasn’t finished. When I pointed out the contract stated payment wasn’t due until completion he went on to make the comment “Well, don’t you trust me?” When I refused to budge on the payment they came out the next day and finished the work (aside from leaving the forms in the driveway for about a month). When I went out to inspect the work there was absolutely no water running through the culvert, all of it was washing out through the bottom right quadrant of the pipe. They also left all of their garbage laying around the property for me to clean up (they did the same with the carpet scraps once it was installed). When I called to inform him that there was no running water through the pipe he just wrote it off and told me he would come out and “Show me how to fix it.” Which involved jamming large rocks where the water was flowing. When the finished I checked it out and there was still no water running through the pipe. I had to run out and buy quick Crete and some gravel to fix it myself. As far as the driveway itself it is not level...so many low spots where water collects and portions of where the old driveway and new meet are chipping. From my experience I would suggest absolutely no one use them for work.
