A talented interior designer and artist, Richard Cable is passionate about his craft, his clients, and their dreams. With over thirty years of residential and commercial design experience in Chicago, Boston, & New York City, Richard has chosen to make his home in Huntsville, Alabama for the past 15 years to be closer to family. Richard earned his BFA in Interior Design, Cum Laude, from Winthrop University in 1990 while working as the Project Director for Winthrop's Campus Planning & Design Department. Over his four years at Winthrop, Richard was responsible for coordinating over $25 million in historic renovation and new construction on the historic campus. Currently, Richard is the consulting designer for many of Huntsville's premier home builders, real estate developers, realtors, and one of the largest medical facility design/build firms in the Southeast. He currently divides his time between Huntsville and Atlanta area projects. Richard earned the highest level of Interior Design Qualification when taking the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications Exam (NCIDQ). The NCIDQ is the Architect's equivalent of taking the AIA exam. The exam is an extensive four part test taken over two consecutive days. Unlike Interior Decorating, which is a large part of what we do, the exam focuses on the important Health, Safety, and Welfare knowledge required by a professional Interior Designer to properly meet building codes and create working construction drawings. As a State Registered and Licensed Interior Designer (RID) in Alabama, Richard is empowered to stamp and submit construction documents for permitting in any size residential project as well as commercial projects up to 5000 SqFt. Richard is the Immediate Past President for the State Board of the Alabama Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. ASID is the largest professional organization for Interior Designers in the World. In September 2013 Richard was proud to be appointed by The Honorable Governor Robert Bentley to serve as the Northern District Representative to the Alabama State Board for Registered Interior Designers. He will serve on the board for a four year term from 2013 to 2017.
