Tyson Project

Nov 2017

I have decided to let our customers review (taken from our houzz profile) be the description for this project since it so beautifully describes how we want every customer to feel when working with our team! I cannot even begin to put into words how highly I recommend Outdoor Artisan, Inc.! Within a few minutes after showing Clive my then drab backyard, I knew he was the guy for the job. All I did was tell him the basics of what I wanted, and from there his excitement for the potential of my outdoor space was contagious as his design ideas started flowing. His initial design plan was amazing, but he didn’t stop there... In the early stages of construction Clive was on site daily to oversee the progress, and he tweaked several aspects of the the design plan to make it even MORE beautiful and functional without changing original cost estimate whatsoever. Clive wasn’t the only one who impressed me. The entire Outdoor Artisan team couldn’t have been more friendly, professional and genuinely concerned for my COMPLETE satisfaction with every detail of my project... From Tracie setting up my initial consultation with Clive, Clive’s ingenious design plan, Jason’s talent and vision for the design of my cabana and fireplace, the construction expertise of Antonio and all of the guys on his crew, to Tim (always first to arrive on the job site) loving on my dogs everyday and even Tracie’s dad, Bruce who took gorgeous photos of my space... They are good people, all so incredibly talented, and they take pride in what they do! I couldn’t love my outdoor space any more... they made sure of that! By A. Tyson

Laymon Project

Aug 2016

This project was designed by Clive to provide a special space for the homeowners to enjoy by themselves as a family, and for hosting large gatherings. It's a multi-level outdoor space, with one main formal patio with outdoor grilling area/bar and seating by a gorgeous fireplace. Then, down a curving, stone stairway, is a lower rustic patio centered around a fire pit. We are so proud of our teams work on this extensive outdoor living space. It is simply stunning, and perfectly compliments the french country style home. Enjoy!

Condrich Project

Jul 2016

When we were hired to design and create this space, our clients already had an existing pool with fountains and paver decking, but wanted to add a covered area with a feature fireplace to compliment and extend this area. They worked with Owner, Clive Newey to design the initial concept for the patio extension, wood-burning fireplace, seat walls and cabana layout. Project Director, Jason Humphrey then worked closely with the customer to create the many craftsman details on the cabana to ensure it would be a beautiful structure, unlike any other. As we began to installation, there were a few scope changes along the way, however Jason worked carefully with Clive and our clients to ensure all changes flowed smoothly with the design, and that work on the project continued efficiently. We are thrilled with how this outdoor space turned out! Our team is particularly proud of the craftsman details on the cabana and how perfectly this new addition compliments the existing pool area - as if it had been planned from the beginning. More importantly, our clients love their new space and are already enjoying it as a private retreat and to host large gatherings. We hope you enjoy browsing through the photos and gathering inspiration for your own outdoor space!

Cowger Project

Mar 2015

This extensive project was particularly challenging to design and install due to a retaining wall located right behind this clients home. The wall itself was an eight foot drop off, and built on a steep slope that continued downward to a seasonal creek. This significantly limited the usable space in the backyard. However, the homeowners wanted to incorporate a spa, double sided fireplace, large dining and kitchen areas as well as lounge deck and steps leading down to a rustic fire-pit by the creek. This was a lot to ask from their limited backyard, and took many design drafts to accomplish well. Clive worked for months with the clients, Four Oaks Builders as well as structural and soil engineers to arrive at a design that not only felt like a natural extension of the home, but also increased the functional space in the yard (in addition to being structurally sound, which of course was most important). Take a look at the installation photos to see the extensive excavation and foundation work that went into providing a solid foundation for this beautiful outdoor living area. Also note just how awful excavation can look in contrast to the final product. It can be hard to believe the transformation! We like to show this process, since all clients will go through the excavation phase. It always looks bad, but thankfully excavation and base work is short-lived and certainly worth the end result. We love the overall flow of this space and are proud of the craftsmanship. The wall veneer is natural Arkansas stone, hand chipped for this patterned look. There is so much detail in the stonework, from the bar footrest to corbels, counter-tops and mantles. Even the toughest critic would have to agree this is 1st class masonry work. We'd like to give special credit to Outdoor Artisan Project Director, Jason Humphrey who did an outstanding job overseeing our teams as they worked on this space. He was able to ensure that all the details were carried out perfectly to make Clive's design a reality. It was his idea to heat and artistically shape the rebar to serve as hand rails beside the stone slab steps leading to the fire pit. Jason's oversight was integral to making this hardscape so amazing! We'd also like to give credit to Andy Suttle, of Four Oaks Builders. He was the general contractor leading this renovation and worked hard organizing and communicating details with Clive, Jason, inspectors, the clients and the engineers. His team constructed the deck portion of this project, as well as renovating other areas of the home. We are so thankful they invited our team to design and install the hardscape portion of this project. Enjoy watching the transformation of the Cowger's backyard! Note: In the aerial photo you can see where the existing retaining wall is still located and how well this was incorporated into the overall design.
