WOOD DECK DEMOLITION; CONCRETE PATIO/STOOP/PLANTER PIERS

Jan 2011

>> EXISTING 20' x 30' WOOD DECK DEMOLITION >> SUBGRADE PREP AND SITE DRAINAGE >> NEW DESIGN/BUILD STAMPED, STAINED 30' x 40' CONCRETE PATIO NARRATIVE: This was my inaugural stamped concrete patio labor-of-love project under my company's former name 'BRAD THE BUILDER', and my all time favorite!! My client (Evilyn) was a sweet, gracious retired school teacher who was easy and wonderful to work with. Our initial (square) design was about half the size of the final (radiused) patio. I worked alone, removing/partially salvaging an existing elevated wood deck/step/joists/posts, prepping subgrade, forming radiused perimeter, placing 6 yards of concrete, and staining/stamping the finished surface. I consulted with experienced concrete patio placing professionals, Jobsite Supply for stain and stamps, and Shelby Materials (Chris Wolf) for proper slab on grade mix design. I abosorbed invaluable concrete placing/finishing skills, knowledge and experience from those with whom I consulted, and simply from performing the physical work alone. I'm anxious to apply that knowledge to your home patio vision!
