We contracted with NuStone in March 2017 to provide a new counter top and back splash for our kitchen. We also contracted for a new electrical outlet as well as some dry wall/plaster repair. The job was to have been completed late April/early May. The job was not started until early August. The new electrical outlet and new GFI outlet were installed and worked when the electrician left. The counter top was installed as was the tile back splash. Due to the lack of proper preparation of the surface to be tiled multiple tiles on the back splash were not flush/flat but were angled in various positions. The first back splash was removed (along with all of the plaster behind it). Damage was done to our kitchen cabinets and wall during the demolition. A second back splash was installed which looks almost as bad as the first. Tiles are chipped or cracked and the chipped areas filled in with grout or caulk. There are holes in the grout. There are also tiles that are cut crookedly in visible areas mainly around a window. Tiles are not flush with the window trim on the right side of the window as they are on the left side of the window. Grout lines are already cracked (they were cracked when the installer left). The installer, Sean, (the owner's son), failed to secure the new electrical outlet box to anything when he re-tiled - it was left hanging causing not only a code violation but also a fire hazard. The installer also pulled a wire out from a new GFI outlet which was the source wire for the new outlet causing the new outlet not to work. An existing light switch was not re-attached to the electrical box when he re-tiled and the GFI outlet was re-installed using dry wall screws. The re-install was extremely crooked . The owner, Ann Walters, was to come back to inspect second installation with one of her employees who did some plaster repair to damage caused during demolition of the first install. She never showed up and her employee was unaware that she was to come with him. The electrician returned to fix the non-working outlet and discovered the problems caused by the installer. He too notified Ann of the problems and told her we are not happy with the job that her installer did. Both Ann's employee and the electrician sent Ann pictures of the current job. NOTE: Ann was present when the second back splash was installed but quickly left when the job was supposedly completed - she had to run to another appointment. I went to NuStone's showroom on Saturday September 9th only to find no one there. Their Saturday hours are supposedly 10AM - 2PM. I followed up with an e-mail to Ann and filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Contact 6. Milwaukee NARI did not take a complaint as the company is no longer a NARI member. As of Monday September 11th I have not heard from Ann since August 31st when the second install was done despite her employee and the electrician contacting her as well as my e-mail to her.
