Words can not describe how terrible my experience with this person, John Butikis, was. I found him on Craigslist and set up a time for him to come knock off a few simple tasks on my to-do list such as hanging some hooks, curtain rods, mounting a small TV... Just easy things involving a drill and a level. No big deal. We agree on $50 for the completion of my list. This guy shows up and without my saying a word, not even hello, he begins to go on a talking rampage so long and fast I was wondering if he was possibly on drugs. I could not get a word in edgewise no matter how uncomfortable or obviously annoyed I was. This guy was talking a blue streak instead of doing any work! After 40 minutes of him talking and me walking around the house putting things away trying to give him the hint (literally, i was timing the episode) he finally begins to hang a few guitar hooks. I am to blame for guessing the wrong spacing between them, but by the time he was finished with five of them they were so crooked i just told him to stop and go mount the TV. And instead he proceeds to stand around telling me the other half of his life story! Finally i start gathering the things needed and march upstairs to get things going. He starts the process at which time i go downstairs to make a call. I then see him walk out to his truck and watch him sit in the passenger seat for twenty minutes. When he comes back in he tells me that the (brand new, complete) mounting kit didn't have the right parts and he had to find them in his truck. My head is about to explode from irritation of his behavior and outright time wasting. I had a doctor's appt, so i told him to either finish or just leave. He says he's only got ten more minutes left on getting it mounted. I then go downstairs to get my wallet and say "how much do i owe you?" Because i assumed that because he accomplished ONE thing on my list of a dozen that it wouldn't be the price that we originally agreed upon. I was right! Instead of $50 this jerk says i owe him $75! For talking my ear off and mounting a TV (which is totally crooked, btw). John is a con man. He knew exactly what he was doing by wasting so much time talking instead of doing the work. I feel totally taken advantage of and i don't want anyone else to make the stupid mistake i did of letting this guy come into my home and pretty much rob me. Sure, in hindsight i could have laughed in his face when he told me what I owed him, but i was a deer in the headlights, and i was intimidated. I'll never have anyone come over to "help me" while I'm alone again. He saw me as an easy mark. I hope this review saves someone from making the mistake i did.
