Coquina Drive Kitchen | Oct 2014 | The laundry room was relocated to the second floor, allowing us to expand the footprint of the kitchen space. We added a large cased opening leading to the dining room, helping to make the space feel more open. Large triple casement windows allowed for an abundance of natural light in the space and provided a beautiful view of the backyard. Brand new, white cabinetry, Torquay countertops and white subway tile backsplash also help to make the space feel bright and open. | Johns Island, SC
Sullivan's Island Kitchen Renovation | Sep 2014 | The owner of this 1990s home wanted to update the kitchen, giving it the feel of a modernized 1950s diner, much more in line with her contemporary aesthetic. Two columns and a large hood, located in the center of the kitchens island, combined with dark cabinetry made the space feel smaller than it actually was. Removing the 2 columns and island hood helped open up the space and tied it in with the adjacent dining area. To give the kitchen the 50s diner look we added a stainless steel island counter top and stainless harlequin backsplash. The stainless theme was carried into the upper kitchen cabinets as well. The sink was relocated to the island and a new 8-burner Viking range replaced the separate cooktop and ovens to provide better functionality for the family. The breakfast area was updated with a new chandelier and the breakfast table was topped with Quartz countertops in flint black to match the kitchen counters. | Sullivans Island, SC
Willow Lake Interior Renovations | Aug 2013 | The entire home was renovated to improve the functionality for these high tech homeowners. The first floor was redesigned to create a large dining area adjacent to the kitchen for easy entertaining, new laundry and power rooms, and a new media room. On the second floor, master suite was altered to allow for a large walk-in closet and luxurious tile shower. The home was designed to be both high tech and energy efficient. LED light fixtures were used throughout the home and sound deading sheetrock was used in key areas such as bedrooms, the media room and the dining room and kitchen. The bedrooms and media rooms have automated full blackout shades. | Charleston, SC
Norris Avenue Kitchen Renovation | Oct 2012 | The kitchen in this quirky 1950s ranch is literally the "center" of the house and serves as the main hub of activity for the homeowners. The renovated kitchen needed to be highly functional with a fresh, clean look that would allow the homeowners to maximize storage in a small space. By reconfiguring the space, relocating doorways and utilizing cabinet drawers and a "drawer" microwave, we were able to create an open feeling and maintain clear countertops to allow plenty of workspace. An extra-deep, raised bar counter allows plenty of room for the family computer and a work area while a charging station for cell phones, ipods and other electronics helps the family stay "connected." The large adjoining pantry was also reconfigured for a more efficient use of space. A second refrigerator, countertops, and cabinets were added as well as large pull outs for dog food storage and a watering station for the family pets. | Charleston, SC
Seabrook Island Kitchen | Feb 2012 | The kitchen was extended by enlarging the doorway between the kitchen and dining room and relocating the pantry cabinet with its custom-built slide-outs to the opposite end of the kitchen. The kitchens only window was relocated to provide balance in the room. Flush-front cabinets, quartz countertops and a streamlined layout provided the homeowners with the simple, clean lines and efficiency they desired. A magnetic induction cooktop and a unique backsplash design added an artistic element to the room. A custom stainless steel table base supports the redesigned kitchen seating area. New French doors lead to the deck. | Seabrook Island, SC
Broad Street Bathroom | Oct 2011 | The goal of this remodel was to give the owners a fresh, updated master bath and maximize efficiency in the 8'x9' space, add heat and a/c vents which were lacking, and incorporate the clients' love of the tropics, providing a relaxing oasis in this 120 year old home. The water heater was relocated to the attic and a custom cabinet was designed and built to occupy that space. The shower was carefully redesigned to maximize utility and visual appeal. His and her hampers occupy one of the vanity cabinets, allowing them to be hidden from view. Unique Ocean Breeze Vetrostone countertops with imbedded seashells and glass, mosaic glass tiles, and handmade cabinet knobs constructed from the homeowners collection of tropical sea glass give the space personal touches. | Charleston, SC
Rutledge Avenue Addition | Feb 2007 | This 1911 home was transformed from a collection of awkwardly cut up rooms into a functional living space. On the first floor, the kitchen was enlarged and the addition of a new living room, media room and bath provided increased living space for the clients. On the second floor, we created a larger master suite by relocating the master bath to a new addition and converting the existing master bath into an expansive walk-in closet. The new bath features a luxurious claw-foot tub, his-and-hers vanities, and a separate shower room that adjoins the new closet. An interesting architectural element in the space is an exposed dormer that, due to regulations by the citys Board of Architectural Review, could not be removed or destroyed as the addition was built. Rather than enclosing it in the ceiling, we opted to vault the ceiling in the bath, leaving the dormer exposed and added lighting to highlight it within the space. | Charleston, SC
