This project was an unfortunate one. An unlicensed "contractor" was hired to remodel a first-floor condo unit and while doing the remodel he removed a load bearing wall. Luckily the mistake was caught by the property manager before the unit above sank any further into the lower unit and we were called in as a licensed contractor to fix the damage. Before we arrived the "contractor" put the wall back without leveling the floor of the unit above and finished the kitchen. As a result, we had to remove half the kitchen in order to lift the second floor back up and rebuild the wall. Opening the wall we found unprotected electrical connections and overloaded wiring left by the previous "contractor". A licensed electrical contractor was hired to fix the damage and bring the kitchen back up to code. With the damages repaired the kitchen was brought to the finished state and design we found it in, as requested by the owner.

In this remodel in Kula, Hawaii on Maui, The client was looking to open her kitchen to the living and dining area while creating a peninsula seating area and a display bar area for chinaware and glassware. The project had its challenges. Many attempts at "modifications" were done of the years by unqualified professionals. Bad electrical and plumbing were at the root of most the troubleshooting. Fully resolved however the plumbing was replaced getting rid of the leaks and the electrical was re-run eliminating faulty wiring and bringing everything up to code while adding a few specialty lighting options to the kitchen cabinets. The cabinets chosen were the ever popular white shaker style fronts. We used solid painted MDF to ensure the longevity and durabilty of the front. MDF allows for a solid door made from one panel and will eliminate the cracks often found in wood constructed doors. One of the nicest features of this kitchen is the glass front doors with the in cabinet lighting with glass shelves. It offers a well-lit display giving the kitchen more depth. In this addition in Haiku, Hawaii on Maui, we took an already covered porch/ lanai and enclosed it to add another bedroom/ full bath to the house for a growing family. In order to make the space usable, we need to level the sloping deck framing, eliminate a sliding door to the living room and add a new door to the hallway. We then reframed the exterior walls adding 4 matching windows and matching siding. We also framed in a closet and a bathroom. All new electrical was run bringing the space up to code and new plumbing was run for the bathroom allowing a new toilet, tub/ shower combo, and a sink. Matching flooring and trim were used to make the room appear as if it was always there. A subway tile shower added a modern touch and brushed nickel fixtures finished off the bathroom.
