Avoid hiring StoneStreet Painting and Construction and here’s why… When the owner of StoneStreet Painting and Construction came out, both he and his assistant appeared personable and willing to help us obtain the kitchen of our dreams. We explained that we wanted to update our cabinets, counters, and back splash. We were told that the project could be completed in 2-3 weeks, which was perfect. Or would have been if the promise was delivered on. I had concerns about the 50% up front payment. Research says this is uncommon, but we wanted to give StoneStreet the benefit of the doubt. This project ended up taking almost four months. I had to micromanage most of it, which defeated the purpose of hiring StoneSteet. My family spent a good portion of that time without kitchen counters or a kitchen sink. You read that right. There was an empty space with exposed water pipes where the sink should have been for at least three months. This could have been avoided if the fabricators were called out sooner and with a little quality control. We technically have new countertops, backsplash, and stained cabinets. However, our dishwasher tips forward every time we open it. Apparently, there was confusion over which subcontractor was supposed to mount the dishwasher to the counter. The problem remains unresolved to date. And yes, it’s as annoying as it sounds. All of the subcontractors who came out to stain our cabinets, install the counters, and install the backsplash were professional. However it’s come to my attention that many of them never received payment for their work even though we paid StoneStreet Painting and Construction in full. If you decide to work with StoneStreet, be sure to be sure there is a lien waiver clause and be sure to research other important elements home remodeling contracts should have.
