I started Jovia Renovations after separating myself from a partnership that went bad and to keep my reputation in good standing with my customers. I have been in the construction trades since 1980 in several different capacities from apprentice to estimating and ownership with five employees. My customers are my main focus making sure they are getting a top-notch job and exactly what they want to have done. I also enjoy the projects that some contractors won't do or say they can't do, I like to think out of the box to get a job completed.

Joel completed one project for us. He was a referral from ProQuest for Handyman Services. We indicated a number or projects that we needed completed. We accepted three of his bids. Joel completed one job that he bid on and we paid him for the amount he requested. We received a Request for Review from Home Depot. My husband gave him a "good" as he did not feel the work performed by Joel was excellent. Joel called up my husband and kept questioning him as to why he did not receive an "excellent." My husband gave him his reasons, but this did not satisfy Joel. Upon scheduling the next job that Joel bid on that we accepted, he texted me and told me that he could not complete the other projects that he agreed to because he did not feel he could meet our standards for a quality review. We then had to scramble to hire another contractor to meet our project deadlines. When a contractor sends out a bid that is accepted by the homeowner, it is unethical for a contractor to back out of a job just because he did not receive an "excellent review" on a prior job. This contractor does good work, not excellent in our opinion, but his ethical standards in conducting business get a poor rating from us.

Joel was the best! He completed our custom job in a timely and professional manner. We would recommend Joel and his team without any reservation. And another important feature of Joel's work ethic is that he cleaned up the job site every night without fail!

I'm very happy with the quality workmanship Joel provided in replacing the colunms on my front porch. The work was done in a timely manner and on budget. I will definitely utilize him for future home improvement projects. It's rare to find a contractor you can trust so completely!

Motor Home Flooring | Sep 2019 | This project had its challenges, the customer was wanting the LVP (luxury vinyl plank) flooring throughout the couch. We ran into an issue with the slide-out guides which had screw heads protruding that were catching on the flooring, good thing I did some testing prior to full-on installation. We ended up having to install carpet back in those areas but were able to install the LVP in critical areas like the entry, kitchen, hall, and bedroom. | $2k | La Center, WA
Matt's Shower Build | Aug 2019 | This homeowner wanted to have this shower to be a place where he could sit for a couple of minutes just to soak after a long day. The fiberglass shower had been removed along with the old drywall so we could start with a clean slate. This shower system is a lite weight system and can be ready to tile in one day, versus the concrete pan that takes a few days before tiling can begin. We had also installed vinyl flooring in this bath along with another bath and utility room, laminate plank flooring was also installed in the hall, living, dining, and kitchen areas, but the shower was the main focal point. | $4k | Ridgefield, WA
Pitts Remodel | Mar 2015 | This house had too much wood work for the home owners along with too much brass/gold. We removed all the wood base and went with a taller base that suited the interior much nicer than the old plain base. The door trim we painted to match the doors and base. The window trim we painted the same color as the walls except with a different sheen. All the flat plain doors we replaced with a nicer 6 panel, the mirrored with gold trim closet doors were replaced with a 6 panel as well. The den doors were replaced with 10 light french doors which added a very nice touch to that room. The cabinets were sanded and cleaned up and painted which really helped to brighten up the interior. New cabinets in the baths. The master bath had a lot of wasted space in it, on both sides of the walk in tub were pretty much useless, so by removing the tub and extending the platform, cutting it out to accommodate a standard tub, really opened up the bath room allowing for a makeup counter. | $33k | Vancouver, WA
Pipes Mantel | Feb 2015 | We were asked to build a mantel around the fireplace and to incorporate the alcove for electronics. We were able to build a shelf unit inside the alcove and finish that off with smoked glass doors. | $1k | Vancouver, WA
Pricket Pillars | Oct 2014 | The homeowner had purchased this home four years ago which had been newly remodeled. The columns at the front porch were rotten from water due to poor workmanship. The columns were sitting directly on the brick with little to no caulking and the rest of the columns had very little caulking at the seams and joints. We replaced a total of four columns and when we dismantled the old ones, we found that two columns were false and the other two were built around two steel post. | $800 | Vancouver, WA
Warren Deck | Sep 2014 | We were asked to come in and refinish this deck, but found that it had three coats of paint, and many of the boards were rotting. We decided that replacing the deck boards would be a less expensive solution and would be a nicer finished project for the homeowners. | La Center, WA
Deck and Fence Refinish | Jul 2014 | This deck was worn and the old cheap brush on stain was pealing and in pretty bad shape. We used a stripper to remove the old stain, then we sanded the decking and bench to smooth out the surfaces, and finally a nice coating of a quality stain that soaks into the wood and will last much longer and looks much better. The fence never had a stain on it, so it was weathering and starting to rot in a few places because it gets very little sun to help dry it out. We power washed first, and then stained it to help extend it's life for several more years. The photo of the fence shows the grey weathering before we started, the raw wood after power washing, and finally after applying the stain. | Oregon City, OR
Highsmith Kitchen | May 2014 | Design and installation of wall tile. Another contractor started this project and really messed up the wall tile by cutting tiles crooked and not having any real edging along the edges. The home owner originally wanted us to repair what was there, but after our suggestion to rebuild it with a nicer design, they agreed to our suggestion. The final project has a nice finish at the edges, the feature tiles are set in a nice framework that helps to set off a nice transition between the field and feature tiles. We then installed the owners Hood fan and stove. | Portland, OR
Microwave Cabinet | Apr 2014 | The homeowner had their kitchen remodeled a couple of years prior to this project and there was never any sort of fan installed for the stove, be it down or up draft. They wanted a ventless hood microwave installed above their stove with no idea how to do it with out cabinets above the stove. We were able to come up with this sturdy shelving which also gave them a bit more storage in the kitchen. | Vancouver, WA |
