STAY AWAY! Do not even let Ken Piwowar into your house. Here is what happened to us when we hired K.P. Construction LLC for a master bathroom remodel. Opinions are mine. We gave Ken Piwowar a down payment in early December. There was no communication for days. Now itâ s a month later in January. We contact him to find out when they are going to start and keep getting excuses. He set up an appointment for us to go to Pro Source to select tile and bath fixtures. We went to the appointment and looked at several things. We took tile samples home to see what they looked like in our BR. We decided against those and returned them. My wife chose tile and fixtures on a subsequent visit. We returned later to finalize things and we both remarked about the high prices shown in the Pro Source catalogs. The rep told us to ignore the prices. We finalized our choices. Ken Piwowar contacted us (first time) and informed us that our choices were way too expensive for the budget we had for the project. So after almost two months we found out he had not given Pro Source any information about our budget. This is now early February. We picked tile, cabinet and counter top from Pro Source, but decided to source fixtures on our own from Home Depot, Amazon, etc.. I sent Ken Piwowar several options for all the fixtures and bathtubs. We had guests coming in early March, so we were now concerned that the BR will not be complete by then. Ken Piwowar never communicated with us about when work will begin or what material had been purchased. We planned on beginning March 16, after our guests were gone (over three months after we have given KP money.) We still have not been given any information about what has been purchased. By now, the coronavirus has become a problem for everyone. On March 16 Ken Piwowar called and we discussed it. I told him that if the workers donâ t feel comfortable working I understand and wonâ t complain about that. This is over three months after hiring Ken Piwowar. It should never have gotten to that point. The project should have been completed no later than the end of February. The BR is demoed that day and all the materials are taken away. A couple of days later I was told they were picking up the tile from Pro Source and would bring it over. They showed up it and it was the wrong tile. It was the same tile as the samples we had looked at initially and rejected. They had also began construction on a pocket door at the BR entrance. I have never installed a door, but I could tell the header they put in for the pocket door was not built to provide adequate support. Some bracing they used in the new doorway framing looked like a small child did it. They used two scrap pieces of 2x4 together for some of the bracing. The cuts weren't straight and it looked comically childish. They also began a shower pan curb. It turned out to be smaller, front to back than the original. Not acceptable. So I ordered a smaller tub on my own. I contacted Ken Piwowar and told him the shower pan would need to be rebuilt. Later, the workers told me I would have to give them $500 cash to buy supplies to rebuild the pan. The materials used cost less than $50. I checked. The pan curb they built was off by 3/8 inch; not even close to being square. I realized Ken Piwowar & crew were not up the job and contacted him to cancel the job and refund the balance of money that had not been spent. The contractor, his carpenter and tile guy we hired to fix the K.P. Construction LLC mess actually laughed at the shoddy work K.P. Construction LLC had done. It was all removed and rebuilt correctly. Ken Piwowar kept our money, but we dodged a huge disaster that was just waiting to happen. 1. Ken Piwowar was dishonest with us throughout the process. 2. The K.P. Construction LLC crew attempted to do the carpentry, the plumbing and electrical work they were not qualified to do. 3. My perspective of the experience is that Ken Piwowar stole from us. Use this review to choose your contractor wisely.
