On March 16m 2016 I signed a contract with TORRES CONSTRUCTION to have my pool repainted for $3,000. I was told that included an 8 yr warranty, sanding down the existing paint, priming, and painting with Olympic Epoxy paint. I was told that it would require only 1 coat of epoxy, but if it needed it, they would paint a second coat. I was told by their representative that they would also replace the pool drains with drains that matched the paint. I paid 50% down to the company rep that was to over see the project, Maribel Cabral, who was to order the paint and supplies. The nightmare then began… It took forever to sand off the existing paint. The employee that they had come in to paint the primer coat, was awful, painting unevenly, leaving dripping paint throughout that dried, unprofessionally taped and painted around rock accents, painting over a newly replaced pool light and water jets/circulators, getting paint on my patio/patio furniture, newly painted house while washing the paint roller, etc. I had a sit down with the owner, to explain the issues and give him a chance to make right all the errors. Mike Torres, the owner, promised he would do whatever it took to fix the mess and make things right. They proceeded to sand down the bad priming paint job, while his crew always showed up late (mid day), smoked on the job, laid on my patio furniture to eat and smoke, and tried all kinds of methods to get the paint off, seeming lost/unexperienced. Most of the bad primer paint job was removed and they finally painted the first coat of epoxy. I noticed later that they had painted over medal pieces of steel wool and such from sanding. There were a lot of uneven spots, so I asked the owner to do the promised 2nd coat. He then tried to get me to pay him an additional $1,500 which I refused. He and his brother in law decided to do the second coat, not wanting me to file on their compant insurance to have everything fixed. There was still missed spots and low spots, and a bad touch up by his brother in law (Juan Barron) that was done wrong. The pool looks subpar, the paint used to touch up my house from paint splatter was done with a cheap primer of the wrong color (instead of the Sto paint), and the paint did not come off my patio. Before noticing all of this, I paid Juan Barron, $750 more that day, because he had said it had been a slow week and I wanted to do the right thing. That was last I have seen of them… June 4, 2016. Now the owner won’t return my calls, texts, or emails. This process has taken 3 months and I am stuck with having to fix this mess. I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM USING THIS COMPANY.
