We hired Bernard because he said he was an expert in window repair and replacement, and fixing window leaks. The window that was in need of repairs was on the ground floor. We told him the problem was the window above. It was leaking down the wall coming into our unit. He said that it ABSOLUTELY was NOT that problem, and that it was our window. He promised to replace our window and guarantee it. We paid him $800 to replace the window and match the stucco, which he didn't do. The window continued to leak for months. After calling him for weeks and weeks, he finally came and broke up the stucco above the header of the window and said it wasn't his problem and that the roof was leaking. He left and never repaired the stucco. We had to get the stucco repaired, called another company in to do a water test. As soon as they sprayed water on the window above, water instantly came into our unit. It was not leaking from the roof! He has the worst business practices. Poor communication. Definitely NOT professional.

We hired Bernard to do a shed conversion..advised leak in roof..also hired for concrete work to be done on our porch. Gave him a 2500 deposit.. the work was never completed, the concrete was layed incorrectly now having to pay someone to break it up and redo it so water doesn't pool under my home. the work he did was sub par. The people he sent to my home was drinking on the job and had no experience with the work he needed to do. Every time we called him he kept lying and saying someone would arrive but never did.. He pretty much abandoned the job and left us with thousands in repairs that they caused.. Never offered a refund never returned our keys. Please look for someone else for your work so y ou do not give shafted by this unprofessional person.

I first used Bernard/Ace Handyman Service to repair 2 vertical windows. The job went perfectly. Bernard arrived exactly when he said he would and did exactly what he said he would do in the exact amount of time he said it would take. So, I felt good about contacting him again to repair 2 toilets, one that ran constantly and one that only ran occasionally. He showed up 3 hours early, which I was not prepared for. He did send a text, but was at my house before I even saw it. I was out and had to return home. He examined both toilets, identified the parts in need of replacement, left to obtain them, and returned promptly with them. He fixed the downstairs toilet without issue. The upstairs toilet had blue tablets in the tank, which Bernard should have known about since he had previously examined it prior to starting work on it. He at no point said that it would be an issue or presented me with options or asked me for any gloves or rags, which I have. I went upstairs to get something and found the sink running, blue (from the toilet) all over the sink, granite counter, walls, tile, toilet, toilet fixtures, the grout I had just cleaned, and the brand new caulking around the base of the toilet. It was all over. He was using a trash bucket to toss out the toilet paper he had used up. It was covered in blue residue and was sitting on the granite counter that I was not sure was sealed properly (we just moved in a few months ago). When I walked in he said, “Blue stuff everywhere.” As I started to clean it up, he said that he wasn’t sure that it would come out and that it stains everything. It was all over Bernard’s left hand. My guess was that he got it on his hand and was continuing to touch everything, even though he knew it stains. Had he warned me about it, I would have covered the bathroom, given him gloves, or found a way to get the blue tablets out before he started the job, but he did not. It did come out of some of the surfaces easily, but the walls, grout, caulking, and toilet fixtures were stained. He asked me if I had any white paint. I did, and brought it up to him. He used paper towels to glob it onto some of the blue spots on the walls. It was messy, running, and he still left most of the blue walls completely untouched. He said that that was the best he could do and that I would have to go back over it once it dries and left. I then spent 3 hours, painting over the blue on the walls, doing my best to fix his runs and blend it in, scrubbing the grout, and cleaning the toilet fixtures. Since I was there so long I noticed a leak from the toilet fixtures that had not been there before. I called Bernard back and told him about it. He came back with a new angle stop and hose and replaced them for an additional fee. Before he came back I asked him twice if the blue residue would get all over again and told him how long I had spent cleaning it up. Twice he told me no. While he was there for the second time, he smirked as he commented that it usually takes 3 or 4 coats to cover it up. He had full knowledge of how messy the blue tablets can get, did not warn me, and was utterly careless about it. What’s worse was that the fixture leaked even WORSE after the second visit. I contacted Bernard again the following morning. He said that it was because he has reused the same crimping and that he would need to cut it and reattach it. I asked him if the part needed to be replaced. He said no, that it had happened before on a different job he had done. My fiancé met with him this third time as I had to go to work and sent me a picture of the final product. The circular piece that is normally present on most toilet fixtures where it meets the wall had been removed and not replaced, exposing a small hole in the wall. There was more blue residue because, he told my fiancé, it was still on his hand (again, we have gloves…and soap), scratch marks all over the wall and a chunk of paint missing. When my fiancé pointed out the mess, Bernard told him to clean it up himself and to go get the necessary part himself. However, he didn’t charge us for this third visit, since he admitted the leak was due to something that he did. We likely didn’t need the new angle stop or hose that he charged us to replace either, but at least the new ones aren’t blue.
