Service call to troubleshoot and fix half of upstairs without power. Entire left hand side of the second floor has had no power since Sunday. Customer indicated the breaker that tripped out during the power washing; circuit was landed on a twin CH breaker. Connected the tracer to circuit B on the breaker in question, and traced out the circuit to the children's bedrooms on the second floor. Attached the tracer to circuit A on the breaker in question, and went up into the attic space above the garage to trace the circuit. No signal present on any wires in the attic space. Examined tracer in panel to ensure it was working properly, and noticed a ground thar was blown apart in the panel. Traced circuit in question up to broken ground and found a hole in the insulation, and a break in the line. Powered down breaker, cut wire at break, amd spliced new wire at break and landed on breaker. Spliced broken ground in panel as well. Reenergized circuit and power was restored to remaining half of the second floor. Landed outdoor GFCI receptacle circuit on 15A breaker at homeowners request.

"Service call. Troubleshot site of potential electrical short in the basement at junction box indicated by the homeowner. Opened the junction box to inspect the splices inside the box for signs of heat damage to the wires. Upon inspection of splices inside the box, no physical damage to any wires in the box nor shorts present. Doorbell transformer on the box was discolored and tested as have a short on the primary side. Replaced a doorbell transformer, and put a box extender onto the existing octagon box. Disconnected kitchen pendant light from junction box in the attic, and took down the fixture that was not supported by a box. Marked out for a fan box at the fixture location, and cut a hole into the ceiling for a fan box. Installed a fan box by securing it to the stud, and jumped a piece of 10/3 romex from the existing JB that the light was tied into to the next fan box. Installed new kitchen fixture for customer."
