Shane gave me a quote to repair and paint the front door for $450. I would post pictures but cannot on this platform. A few days later he worked from 9a-3p. He replaced a couple of pieces of trim and patched a couple of pieces, then painted the entire frame and door. I checked in several times throughout the day, he was focused and denied needing anything or having any issues. I asked him to change the doorknob from a basic turn knob to an upgraded full handle. He stated he couldn't do this because he didn't have the right drill bit with him. I understood, my partner and I put it on later that day (a relatively easy job for us). At the end of the job, I noticed he didn't sand the patched areas before he painted and the painted area around the doorknob was streaky and the old color showed through. I didn't even mention it because these things weren't the biggest deal. Afterall, I could put on another coat of paint while I changed the doorknob and overall I was happy the door looked better from the street. After the changes, the weatherstrip wasn't sealing against the door, so I ordered some new. When I went to replace it, the patch job Shane completed, crumbled. He used drywall compound to patch the wood door stop, on the wood door jam. I took a picture and sent it to him, saying I needed him to come back to fix it by replacing pieces, not patching it again. He agreed to come the next day (one week from the initial repair) but claimed he couldn't replace the door stop without replacing the whole door frame. I asked two of my neighbors that work in construction, they both stated the problem areas could be cut out and replaced. The next day, Shane arrived at my house and began working before I was there to meet him. He was using wood plastic compound over the drywall compound to patch the issue again. When I walked him through what happened and what I needed, Shane became verbally aggressive - raised his voice at me, accused me of sabotaging his work, plotting against him to get him to replace the piece. I asked him to calm down and just talk with me. He expressed his anger over me asking someone for a second opinion, stating I "went behind his back" and treated him like he was stupid. He stated I was going to have to pay him to repair the door again. He was unreasonable and difficult to even have a conversation with, while still claiming he couldn't do the repair more effectively, so I stated I would get someone else to do it. Shane used paint he already had, leftover from a previous job, about $10 worth of trim, less than $5 worth of drywall compound and spent less than 6 hours on the job. He was rude and unprofessional, and the job still isn't done. I would rate him less than 1 star if it was an option.
