Basement Waterproofing Technique

Jul 2015

This is a typical rundown of a basement waterproofing project. Each project we consultant for has their own unique situations we try to address and remedy. However, many of these projects follow these same steps from start to finish. We come into your home and begin preparing the work area. Drop cloths are placed from our vehicles to the work area. Plastic is taped around the work area to keep the dust contained in the work area. Vents are taped over so dust doesn't get into them. Once the work area is ready we begin jackhammering along the perimeter of the basement and remove the concrete. We than shovel a trench along the footer and remove the dirt. Weep-holes are drilled into the block and mortar joints to drain any existing water in the block and to create an avenue of escape for future water. SafeEdge is placed along the cove joints, this helps direct water to the multi-flow tile. This tile consists of 5 individual channels for water to flow through at a metered pace. no need to worry about water eroding the soil from under your footings. The multi-flow tile is placed in the trench along the footings and covered with clean pea-rock. The tile directs the water to the sump-basket and pump, which in turns sends it out of your home. This basement waterproofing system is installed with a radon port, so in the future, if you decide you need a radon mitigation system, you are ready to go.
