Seawell Byrd "Butch" took our $3200 down payment and never installed the fence. He promised a refund but never delivered. We have filed a police report. This company is a scam.

I would rate ZERO stars if I could. My husband I paid $2000 on March 15, 2021 to this company with the expectation and agreement that the fence would be started on March 17, 2021. When half the day went by and no word from this company I and my husband called multiple times and when we finally got in touch with the owner we were told the reason for the delay was because their truck broke down, but not to worry because they would start the fence the next day. We then asked if he had pulled the permit and were we told that no he had not and that we didn’t need a permit for the fence. We then looked it up and where we live yes a permit is needed. He then said it would be even more time and money. We explained that we had gotten another quote for only $14 more and that the quote included the permit he said he would get the permit and not charge us extra. That was Friday March 19, 2021. This company has since then avoided both my husband and I. Doesn’t answer any phone calls and takes at least a day to return any messages. Lies constantly about when the fence will be started. At this point I just want our money back, but I can’t even get them to answer for that. I don’t know if ours is an isolated issue or what, but proceed with caution if you do decide to go with this company. EDIT: This company agreed to refund us on March 26,2021 with the agreement that I would take down my review after we were refunded. Well, just like with the fence they never came through. He even told us that he used the materials that would have been from our job on his next job so in reality there shouldn’t have been a reason why we weren’t refunded. The owner tried to guilt trip us by saying we were costing him business with this review. He has total disregard for the fact that we paid him $2000 and then we NEVER saw him again. My husband and I after waiting a week with continuous excuses now are forced to take legal action against this company.
