Master Bath- Potomac, Maryland | Apr 2012 | The Customer wanted a luxurious, spa-like, yet modern and minimalist bathroom. Their house in Potomac, MD is a contemporary design, built in the 70s with cathedral ceilings and tall windows. We decided to convert one of their guest bedrooms, adjacent to the master, to a new master bathroom. Our design included a custom shower with jets, rain showerhead and steam from Kohler that integrated a lowered ceiling, tiled shelving and a bench to give it a spa like experience. Outside of the shower we created a dry sitting area, complete with a custom made cabinet with glass doors, an opening to place towels, and a television. All tiles were porcelain in different shades of grey, large format, 12x24 and 12x35 from Porcelanosa. The colors were selected to reinforce the spa feeling. The vanities were wall-mounted, custom-made by C&B custom cabinetry and done in oat stained maple to bring some warmth to the room. Since the ceilings are cathedral height, We didn't use recessed lights and opted for custom wall-mounted, rectangular cut out lights from ICON DC, below the bathtub deck, in the wall near the sitting area, and framing a recess on the wall behind the vanities where the vanity mirror was placed, which created an interesting architectural element and practical storage. The bathroom also featured heated floors, water saving fixtures, glass pocket doors and custom-made concrete tops from Artisan Concrete. | Potomac, MD | ||
