The first time I contacted and spoke with Manny, he was assuring and made me comfortable that I was hiring the right person for the job, which was to legalize an extend bedroom, a simple room measuring 10x15 nothing special, no bathroom or any kind of heating/air. Just a simple room. He quoted $6000, to draw up plans and was going to include any cost of permits. Well we paid him half, he drew Up the plans and we went together housing to get the permit paperwork going. We got there and guess what, he said that we have to pay for the permit paperwork because he spent a lot time working on the plans. So okay we paid $1,100 to get the plans submit and the permit paperwork. He said that going forward that he’ll take charge of everything else, when it was time to schedule an inspection and have the inspector review the room and plans, he said that he was too busy and for us to contact housing for the inspection, so we did. I contacted Manny and gave him the date and time for the inspection. Inspection day came, we were all there and the inspector said that the plans do not resemble anything to the room, and that we were not even close to getting the room legalize, a lot was need to be done, windows to be enlarged door ways entrance redone, a rear stairs to be retracted and enlarge and vents to be installed. He asked Manny want was happening???? He assured us that we were fine and the inspector would simply approve everything!!! He said that inspectors just want to see professional plans made and the room somewhat ok, that it wouldn’t be a big deal for the inspector to a approve!! He was WRONG!! The inspector let him have it, saying that he was wrong for trying to pull something and that he had taken simply our money. We then had a serious talk with Manny, he kept assuring us that everything was going to work out and for us to try with a different inspector and it would be fine. We scheduled a second inspection and guess what that inspector said the same thing what the first inspector said, the room was no where Compliant and required lots of work, Manny then said, I have a contractor that can do the work needed. Manny scheduled the contractor and he quoted us additional $12,000 !!!!! WTF!!! He need the room legalize it was my moms bedroom. We paid the for work and afterwards scheduled another inspection and guess what?? The plans still didn’t match the room, at this point we seriously spoke to Manny what was the deal and it seem that he was taking advantage of us, and afterwards he ghosted us, wouldn’t answer our calls or return any of our messages. We finally got attorney to call him and guess what, he started call us. He said that he would take responsibility for the need work, which was the room’s foundation to be redone with concrete, which meant to tear down some most of the new outer stacco. He again brought in another contractor, which quoted us $6000, Manny said that he would be responsible for any cost in front of all us, shortly after they left, the contractor called me on my cell phone and said if he can pay him a portion to start the work, I was totally confused!! I told that Manny was going to be responsible as he said in front of all us that he would pay for the work. The contractor Chapito, said that as soon as they walked out that Manny told him Chapito that we were going to pay for the work!!! I got off the phone with Chapito and called Manny, which to this day several months now to no answer to any of our calls and messages. MANNY De LA Cruz IS A TOTAL SCAMMER, PLEASE STAY AWAY.
