Bates Electric

Poor service. Initially sent an unskilled worker to install electricity in garage. Noncompliance with codes. Required second company to correct the mess that they created. Horrible.

When I set up the appt, I was asked how tall the ceiling was for removal of an existing hanging light fixture & installation of a new one. I said 10-15 ft tall. On 8/28/17, service man arrived, took one look at the ceiling & said he did not have the 12 ft ladder to reach it. I told him I was asked how tall when appt was made & I told the girl the approx height of the ceiling. He said he talked to the girl twice that weekend & she never mentioned the ceiling height. I thought later why he didn't ask her how tall it was. I signed a paper indicating there was no charge for the Mon visit & someone would call to reschedule, probably for that same week. He explained his co-worker had the tall ladder that day & he himself had the shorter one. No one called on Mon to reschedule, nor did they call me on Tues. On Wed, I called the service man personally & inquired if I was to call the office or if the office was to call me for rescheduling. He said someone would call me yet that day (Wed) or Thurs morning. When no one called by Fri, I called another company to do the job on Tues 9/5/17. They showed up on time, did a great job & I am a happy camper. Funny thing is, that Bates called me after the light was hung & wanted to come out Wed 9/6 afternoon to do the job they were supposed to do over a week ago. This was the first call I'd had about rescheduling. I told them it had already been taken care of & the fixture was up. She sounded surprised & I thanked her for calling. I would not recommend this company & I will certainly not call them again even if they were recommended by Home Depot. A return courtesy call in much less than a week goes a long way.
