I am not a customer, but one of his employees rear-ended me last September and provided false insurance information. He called me that night wanting to pay me directly and when I mentioned I was injured in the accident he said he would provide me with current insurance information the next day. Never responded to another call after that. The result was me having to go through my uninsured motorist insurance. Nearly a year later and my insurance just notified me that they have been unable to recover any money from the business for the claim. This was only a (major) inconvenience for me, but what if one of his uninsured trucks had done major damage to somebody without uninsured motorist insurance to the point where they couldn't work. It is an LLC, so I am sure he would have just closed the current name a started a new one to avoid responsibility. If you can't afford the proper insurance you can't afford to be in business.
