Boston Porch and Deck

Really bad experience with this company and it’s owner. John said deck would be done in 3-4 weeks. Five months later, and several deadlines later, deck was not completed. Every excuse I can think of was used as to why. When I pushed to get all materials onsite I was told he couldn’t afford them. This was after he had a significant majority of the cost of the deck already. Craftsmanship of what he did was extremely poor, and includes code issues (stairs not level and at different heights). I had to hire a new contractor to finish the job and we identified many issues with crooked / bowed boards, stair landing not in line with rest of deck, crooked posts, strange joints, etc. In short, john took most of the money, spent it on something else, then told me he couldn’t get the materials, and did a very poor job on what was completed. This company also does business as john serven and sons. Please check all reviews and do not hire this company
