In 2013, at the urging of friends and family, I founded Schafer Home Inspection Services. I received my home inspection training from the American Home Inspection Training Institute (AHIT) and have continued to educate myself through professional development opportunities after receiving my certification. I am also an associate member of the American Society of Home Inspectors and Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors. I have a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa and have taught instrumental music in Cedar Rapids since 1999. I am currently employed 1/2 time so that I may persue my home inspection career. My education and teaching background allows me to easily communicate with clients and educate them on the quality of their potential home. It also means you can trust me to be honest and professional throughout the home inspection process. I also have a background in residential construction that started with helping my father flip houses in high school. I have remodeled my house from top to bottom; inside and out so my knowledge of building materials and methods is sound. I have always had a love for construction and real estate so home inspection is a natural extension.
