Conte Construction & Design/Window Depot USA Mid Ohio

I had two projects with the Contes. One was a big $100,000+ remodeling of a 100+ year old house and a $18k attic update. Poor attention to detail. They did some good stuff, but overall lack of fine quality and craftmanship. The floors were uneven, some started to bump up only after 6 months. Some windows were stuck or hard to open (to think - windows are their specialty). There were some good parts but those parts were mostly outsourced. The insulation they did was good (outsourced); the drywall they did was good (outsourced); the demolition they did was good (but how can you do a poor job on a demo?); the paint was good. Kitchen looked good with a few exception on missing handles on cupboard; there some long delays on very small items that were overlooked. again - they do not pay attention to the small things. One of the light switches remained naked - they didn't even bother to cover it; they left the attic in a mess after they had updated the electrical - they literally left it worse than when they arrived. Very messy crew- unpredictable. They probably have several ongoing projects, so they might be getting more than they actually handle. Long, long delays. The attic was suppose to be finished under a month; it took four and its still not finished. Door not installed. Some details also poorly done like door knobs were coming out after 4 months. The sliding doors for the cabinets were poorly installed. Did i mention the floors were uneven in several parts? I think they can do "small" jobs but they took on something bigger than they can handle. Would not recommend them for anything huge like what I did ($100,000+ then $18k for attic). Most big jobs were outsourced anyway - the siding and roof was outsourced. I understand contractors outsoure, but the details matter in your house - its your house - you live in it everyday and you invested money in it. I hardly believe they would be willing to keep up with the sloppiness they do in their own homes... are they cost effective? Yes they are - so I guess you do get what you pay for.

I have had a nagging link on a side of the house that had water coming in through door, window, and ceiling spaces. We thought this leak was fixed 3 years ago by another contractor and recently discovered Window Depot. We called them and requested that they give us an estimate on the job. Not only was the estimate completed in a couple of days. They didn't just "look" at the potential problem but carefully examined the house and found the specific problems. We authorized the work and two days later (the crew worked from first light to late at night) the job was complete - this was not a little job and was done quickly because the crew was superb. I have worked with different companies now and again to fix various problems. Of these companies Conte Construction is by FAR THE BEST! Their knowledge, expertise, and desire to fix my problem right the first time completely were second to none. If you have any kind of home problem you would do well to call Conte Construction first. They will get tell you what needs to be done in a no nonsense manner and if you decide to proceed you will find that it will be done such that it will last forever. I couldn't be happier!
