Thomas Piano Service is a full-service Piano Maintenance, Piano Mover and Piano Restoration service provider in the Montgomery River Region. We stretched our first piano string way back in 1965, and our locally-owned family business in Montgomery, Alabama is still twisting the tuning hammer 50 years later. Thomas Piano Service is owned and operated by Reynolds and Joey Thomas, a father and son Piano Technician team that appreciates your musical instrument every bit as much as you do. There are about 12,000 parts in the average piano, most of which are moving. The proper care of a piano includes a lot of ongoing maintenance to keep it in working order. Our Piano Maintenance Services are typically provided at your location and may include Piano Tuning, Piano Voicing, re-felting, replacing key-tops (don't worry, we don't use real ivory), dehumidification (reduction of moisture), mending broken hammers and strings and performing other minor repairs to the piano action as needed. We'll even clean and clear your piano's interior of dust, bugs, dead rodents and other debris. (We'll split any money we find 50/50. :-) When it comes to "King of the Musical Instruments," sometimes a more extensive Piano Restoration project is in order. We can perform these tasks at our Piano Workshop studio. These services might include Piano Refinishing, Rebuilding or a total Reconditioning of your treasured pianoforte (the original name for piano). Of course, we're also expert Piano Movers! Piano Moving entails far more than just relocating the instrument from one spot to another. It requires specialized skills, knowledge and equipment to safely maneuver it to its new home. Also, we know what to do BEFORE the move to protect it from damage, and we know what to do AFTER the move, which includes reassembly, a proper inspection and usually a fresh tuning. We service both Upright and Grand Pianos, including all the variations of size and configuration.
