I do NOT recommend Jim Zamiska (TayZak Inc.) with Pillar to Post. In fact, RUN! I hired him for my home inspection and have suffered thousands in damages. The contract Mr. Zamiska uses limits the amount of money you can recover, even if he is negligent, to the amount paid for the inspection. In my case, my damages are over $10,000 but was only awarded $315, the fee paid for the inspection. Several pictures of the grout around my tub area have been provided in other reviews. It was actually missing pieces or cracked all around the tub. I was at the inspection. Mr. Zamiska did not point this out when I walked around the property with him or include it in his inspection report. Not one word was said about the missing or cracked grout in the tub area, or that we clearly had a potential mold situation. In the inspection report, he did provide one picture of the bathroom, an unprofessionally cut and placed corner tile in the bathroom window and included the caption “keep bathroom tiles caulked and grouted to prevent water infiltration and subsequent damage”. This window tile is nowhere near running water or anything that would be a major concern for a buyer, yet the damaged and missing grout that was in daily contact with running water was not identified or disclosed at all!!! After closing on the house and moving in, the kitchen ceiling began dripping water from the tub area above. Upon opening the walls and taking out the kitchen ceiling below the tub area, black mold was found throughout and the ceiling joists under the tub were water damaged. ! Mr. Zamiska’s testimony at the arbitration hearing was that he saw the cracked and missing grout at the inspection. He felt his picture of the miscut corner tile, with the general warning about keeping grout caulked, sufficiently described the situation. This is only one of many problems I had right after purchasing the home (couldn’t turn the heat off in one bedroom and couldn’t turn it on in another, toilet malfunctioned and overflowed twice within days because the guts in the toilet were incorrect parts, uncapped gas line at the back door with a valve that could easily be turned by mistake was pointed out as a major safety hazard in person, but he forgot or decided to omit it from the written report…). Per Mr. Zamiska’s testimony, I am not the only person to complain about an inspection he has performed. He has been inspecting for about two years. Lastly, I understand that people make mistakes. The response and how things were handled after I notified them of the issues was as bad, if not worse than all of the problems with the house. Not responding to emails, showing up at my house unannounced, and Tina Zamiska, Jim’s wife and business associate, flat out lied at the Arbitration about phone calls that never happened and emails she claimed were exchanged. ☹ So sad. Beware of their contracts and inspections. You are signing away your rights to recover damages if he makes a mistake. When he makes mistakes, they hide behind their contract. There’s probably a better inspector out there.
