I built a Roland Garden Home which has been nothing but problems. Hot water connecter on laundry sink came off during the night a few weeks after moving in. Flooded large part of house destroying hardwood floors and cabinets, flooded basement and insulation. Took months for repairs. After 1 year almost every screw used in drywall popped out and much woodwork cracked. Structural cracks in master bedroom ceiling. Very bad quality from poor workmanship and cheap materials. House not as advertised. Paid premium price. Cheap vanity top in masterbath has bubbled after 2 years and needs replaced. Roland used a $399 combo vanity/double sink in $450,000 house. Carpet in master bedroom has buckled so badly and every seam shows it needs replaced after 3 years. I trip over the bunched up carpet. I live alone so it gets little use. My 4th new home, most expensive and the worst quality I have ever seen. Fixer upper new house.

We hired Roland Builder for a large remodeling project to our home: a composite deck, HVAC, kitchen additions, windows, and an overhaul of a bathroom. We are pleased and displeased. The deck was built by a person who has ample experience in framing and building churches. This resulted in a beautiful deck. The kitchen and windows was done by a person who new his job; both the rough work and finishing touches are great. The calculations for the HVAC were not correct (Roland subcontracted a company to do this.) The bathroom remodel is a different story. The work was done by the person who did the deck; the framing and the prep work for the floors, is solid. The tiling and the installation of furniture and shower stall, is substandard work. We chose large ceramic tiles which, because of their size, we expected some challenges since some tend to bend when fired, but most were absolutely straight. Yet, they are all uneven; no matter where one looks, in areas where the full length of the ceramic was used and in very small areas; the gaps between them, are all of different width as well. On the wall where the vanity sits, with a large sink, the tiles are entirely off-centered. I thought I would grow to accept the way the bathroom looks, yet every time I take a shower or wash my hands, honestly, I feel like crying. We still have other large projects to complete; would we hire Roland Builder again? We’ll have to think about it.
