In 2002, while both attending Hudson valley community college, my younger brother John came to me one afternoon and said very nonchalantly "Joe...... he said with a nod, let's go into business together; think of something, and let me know...." Though abstract at the time that idea stayed with me and a few years later I approached him with a plan. Considering at the time John had 8+ years of construction tutelage before, between, and after college; under my father, who is a tradesman and business owner himself. That, in combination with my business experience and real estate practice, the plan was, we would buy a house, renovate it, and sell it for a profit, in essence a "flip". He was on board with the idea so we moved forward. It wasn't a month later we found a place we liked, a foreclosure and with much anticipation and our fathers support, we bid. It wasn't two days later we lost the bid. Later that month new goals were set and plans were prepared to build a new single family home on 2 acres my father owned in Stillwater. This was our first project as a new business; an entire home; from the ground up! Since Then we have built a 6,500 square foot mixed use commercial building, 16 new homes, 26 large scale additions, 12 full home renovations, 19 garages, and a enormous amount of decks, basement remodeling / refinishing, windows, doors, kitchens, bath rooms, siding, gutters, fire restoration, pole barns, foundations, framing, sheetrock, insulation, plumbing, electrical, flood damage, HVAC, trim, excavation, roofing, painting, and flooring. We also perform all maintenance, service, and repair to all residential and commercial buildings. We are a high quality custom home builder, general contractor and project managers. We take great pride in all aspects of our business; I focus all of my daily efforts on customer relations, and the business itself, while John focuses on project management and production. We are not your typical builder that uses mostly subcontractor we are the "builder", 80% of a new home project is done with our in house workers. Being born and raised in Southern Saratoga County we have established many relationships here in the capital district and in the capital region area. Including: Albany, Clifton park, Halfmoon, Saratoga Springs, Malta, Cohoes, Ballston lake, Mechanicville, Stillwater, Ballston Spa, Waterford, Schaghicoke, Round Lake, Lake George, burnt hills, Colonie, Loudonville, Rexford, East Greenbush, Troy, queensbury, glens falls, crown point, Bolton landing & ALL surrounding areas . Our newest Project, Projected to be complete in the winter of 2018, is renovating The Assumption St. Paul's School building in Mechanicville, NY into 15 high end, New york city style loft apartments. St. Paul's Loft's will be charming in every way, combining the elegance of the 1920's with the style and comforts of the 21st century. Boasting a fitness room, individual ground level storage units, buzzer access, an exterior terrace, a banquet facility, off street parking, and a secluded private park. After obtaining 3 estimates for our porch repair, Starrbuilt had the best price and time estimates of the 3. The work was completed in the amount of time proposed. The quality was excellent.

A deck installed by another recommended contractor was not properly sealed, which resulted in extensive water damage and came very close to collapsing. Joe Starr responded to my call for help and he and his team saved me from what I considered a near catastrophe. I can't say enough about Joe and his company.

Built - In / hidden room | Jan 2014 | Design and construct built in, hinged, cabinetry to hide a secondary room in a 102 year old home. When in the open position the cabinet folds back onto the secondary rooms walls to look like (2) separate book shelves. Oak & Maple hardwoods & vaneer were used in construction. The 8' tall by 5' wide opening was recreated in our woodworking shop, the cabinet was constructed and built to the precise measurements (The opening in the customers home was found to be out of square, proper adjustments were made to accommodate this) After completion in the shop and before installation in the customers home, it held a 160 lb man with only 1/16" of movement! (7) days to construct (1) day to install | $7k | Mechanicville, NY |
