Dan Goodwin Carpentry

Hired to build wall, remove unwanted tile on walls / replace with drywall, and remove and install backsplash. All was fine until the backsplash was to be completed. The old backsplash was removed and the new backsplash was to be installed after the new counter tops were installed. When ready, I contacted Dan. An appointment was set to install the backsplash. When the installer (not Dan) showed up, he told me he couldn't install the tile based on the way Dan had installed the cement board. Since the cement board wasnt as thick as the drywall, it created recess on the top, bottom and sides. He left and said he would have to discuss repair options with Dan. The next day Dan contacted us and said that he did nothing wrong. He said the problem was that we had glass tile rather than ceramic and that the counter top installers caused all the issues. While this makes almost no sense, he then more than tripled his original quote to fix it. Since Dan has never even seen the new counter, it's difficult to comprehend how he can be so certain of the issue. I tried to explain the issue but it was clear he simply wanted to argue senselessly. He ended the call by saying he did nothing wrong and he's not doing anything for free...then he just hung up. He was pretty belligerent the entire call. I never even mentioned cost on the call. I just wanted to know how to fix it. Now I'm stuck with no backsplash and an unusable surface that'll have to be repaired before it can be tiled...which I'll now have to pay someone else to fix. Hopefully I can find someone that has some dignity and stands behind their work.

Hired Dan to install a new door after my last handyman messed up the first one (he was not a Porch guy, recommended by a friend). Dan did an excellent job, had the door installed very quickly. Since the door hardware was at non-standard heights he had to drill new holes for the locks. They lined up perfectly! I was very impressed with his skill and knowledge, and I would recommend him for any of your carpentry needs. I know I will be hiring him again!
