Glass & Mirror Contractor - Miami, FL
Specialties: We have been designing and fabricating Custom Stained Glass and Architectural Glass Art for Home and Business since 1974. We teach all levels of classes in stained glass, mosaics, hot glass fusing, and torchwork. We also sell books, tools, glass and all the supplies you need. History: Established in 1974, our studio was originally started like many others - at home. After a few years, we moved in to our current location (in 1977). Brian Rowe was a young artist, just out of college, who discovered stained glass while in California. When he moved back to Miami, he started researching and taught himself the basics. That led to a journey of discovery of every type of glass work possible - including blowing, fusing, beveling, torch work, painting & firing, and stained glass fabrication. Most sales were done at art shows and by commission, and as our reputation grew, so did the demand for teaching. Because of that, we found it necessary to provide supplies for sale. Now: After 12 years, we expanded, and created both a gallery and a studio/classroom. Our selection of supplies kept increasing too. Brian's sister Lynne joined Rowe Studios full time in 1991, taking over management duties. Brian passed away in December, 1997, but Lynne keeps things going, maintaining the high standards Brian established. There has always been art in all of the Rowe family - and a love of sharing it. While Lynne started with stained glass, her latest passion is for hot glass, fusing and flame work - mostly making beads, but dabbling in sculpture and paperweights as well. As she continues to learn more about jewelry, there will be new techniques in fusing, metals and fibers to pass along.
